Yoshiki Nakamura (仲村佳樹) is a Japanese mangaka. She was born June 17. Nakamura made her manga debut with "Yume de Auyori Suteki" in the manga magazine Hana to Yume in 1993.
This volume starts off with Chapter 97: Finale pt. 4
Seems that Fuwa Sho has some compition that goes by the name of Reino. A creep who has been stealing Sho's songs, and smearing his reputation. Also Reino has noticed Kyoko and started stalking her, and is completely immune to Kyoko's death vibes. So if you haven't gotten into this series yet, it's time to go out and find it!
I'll write more when my editing mode hits. Happy Readings! Fly my Pretties! Fly!
This was an amazing read. I think the manga is the best version of the story, but I want to give the anime and tv series based on the manga a chance as well. In this volume, there were things that I wanted to know about Ren. I wonder if we will finally see who he really is. it looks like he has a really difficult past. Also, I want to see more of Kyoko and Ren together. I think they are cute together. I love the characters. The ending was fantastic. Can't wait to read Volume 18 and I hope it keeps getting better. Overall, an incredible read.
Can I just say firstly that having Ren rush to the rescue of Kyouko when he found out that she was out in the hallways of the hotel looking for the manager (...alone... after being stalked... by a guy who was also staying at the hotel... and who has a vendetta against Shou... and who has already proven to be a creep...) was absolutely amazing? Coming out of nowhere and making sure Reino (creeper-dude) stayed away and then putting himself in the way of the "argument" to protect her? It was adorable :|
The flashbacks that were shown of Ren's past were really intriguing, and I'm curious to find out more (hopefully SOON, HINT HINT) - I'm also wondering if this new guy ("Kuu") is somehow connected to Ren and his past... there seems to be something there, y'know? Plus, the guy was from America... and Ren was in America for a time... THERE COULD BE SOMETHING THERE, OKAY?
I'm also really hoping that Kyouko will be able to get a new (NON-Mio-like) role soon. I'd love to see her in one of her "dream" roles (essentially playing a sweet and beautiful princess-like character :P) so that she can finally get to experience that first-hand c:

Cute- I feel like I know for sure that Ren likes Kyoko, but of course they are still walking around it (which to be honest, is the best part for me before it all gets serious). I look forward to reading the next one.

I fell in love with this manga immediately. It drew me in and kept me there. Sadly to say i have been reading it from the internet and hate to wait in between chapters. I've also been watching it's anime and I've seen the first episode of the TV show extravagant challenge based on this manga. But nothing beats the manga because it has all the extra details that are not shown elsewhere.
I'm writing this review for all of the volumes of Skip Beat because i tend to read them all together. I enjoy Kyoko's personality, the way she is inexperienced in various things(such as friends, boyfriends, etc.), serious with others(her acting,etc.)..Her relationship with Ren and how she won't admit to her feelings. I also like the turn of events with Sho, how he is now interested in her.
I like reading this manga over & over again because it basically shows a young girl who had her heart broken and was stepped on, who gathered up all her anger, her little left hope and decided to get revenge. Along the way she makes friends, experiences new feelings, develops a deep love for her acting which changes things around for her.
No matter how many time you get knocked down, you should get back up and fight!!
This series is cute, though why is everyone who meets Kyoko for the first time really mean to her? I don't get it. Yeah, if some where mean and others weren't, but almost all the characters she comes into contact with seem to hate her at the start (even Ren, who then starts to have feeeeeelinnnngs for her). Anyway, it is still cute and makes me laugh.
Re-Read 1:
Hahahaha, yes to this review. Already starting volume 18 :)
I’m so glad we got a little Kanae appearance in this book I miss her fr, she needs to show up more. Otherwise, loved this volume as always and we finally got a little glimpse of Ren’s past… I need more. Bro looks like he went thru it poor guy.
Kyoko is a legend. One of the top American actors picks a fight with her and she just kicks back Rens his respect, and gains him as her surrogate father figure and mentor.
Bene bene.

Today’s review is on Skip Beat!, vol, 17 by Yoshiki Nakamura. It is 200 pages long and is published by Shojo Beat. The cover has Kyoko and Ren on it. As this is the 17th volume in the long-running series you need to read the first 16 in order to understand the story. There is no foul language, no sexuality, and no violence in this manga. The story is told from third-person close of Kyoko but sometimes changing to Ren to get his perspective on things. There Be Spoilers Ahead.
From the back of the book- Dark Moon is getting excellent ratings, and Kyoko is getting tons of offers for more acting jobs! But all the offers are for twisted, damaged characters like Mio. Kyoko doesn't want to get stuck as a character actor, and she certainly doesn't want to play freaks for the rest of her career. But if she refuses all these jobs, will she even have a career left?!
Review- We wrap up most of the complications with Kyoko stalker, he's going to New York so he'll be out of her hair for a little while. But now Kyoko is afraid she's going to be typecast as a mean girl. But all of that is background noise because Ren’s father has returned to Japan for the first time in 20 some years and she has been assigned to be his assistant while he's here. He is giving her a lot of trouble at the end of this manga and I'm very curious to know if he knows about Ren’s feelings for Kyoko and that's why he's giving her problems, we haven't seen it yet so it will be interesting to see how that plays out. As it is Ren's father he might want to back off because his son might come after him but I think Kyoko is about to release her grudges on him and I don't think he has Ren’s invulnerability to them. Hopefully we will understand what president Lori is trying to do in the next volume by putting them together. I'm interested to see where we're going to go now, and I still highly recommend this whole manga series.
I give this volume a 5 out of 5 stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.
Finally we are done with the “suddenly a love story” arc. It was definitely not my favorite arc so far. I do feel that Ren and Kyoko’s relationship has gotten stronger and more meaningful as did Sho and Kyoko’s relationship. It was an important arc in order to intensify the relationships and the romance in the story, but it was also pretty long and slightly excessive in my taste. Then we started a whole new plot line, and I have to say I am interested in the start of Koo’s arc. Really looking forward to seeing how Kyoko will handle this job, especially after it’s been so long since last she did work for the Love Me section. I also have a hunch about where this arc his getting, and I’ve got to admit if I’m right than it’s definitely going to be entertaining to read.
I am so happy that Dark Moon is getting positive reviews.
But with the new drama airing, Kyoko is getting offers for more dramas. Unfortunately, they want her to perform and act just like her previous character Mio in saddens her because she wants different roles.
Meanwhile, with the news of the former actor who portrayed the character that Ren portrayed coming back to Japan, the whole industry is buzzing. Its forshading they know each other. I am guessing they are father and son. When he comes to town, he assigned to be helped by Kyoto who he is really mean and degrading to.
With her being used to people acting like that towards her, I know she isn't just going to take it without saying something back.
This volume is also full of twists and turns, tender moments and hilarious moments. After filming the drama, Ren and Kioko have to choose new employees. Uffina implicitly talks about Sho... But the subject is not taken up for the time being. A new star arrives who has a bad temper and Kioko's patience and perseverance will be put to the test!
We have some really sweet Kyoko x Ren moments in this volume as well as glimpses or hints into more Ren thoughts and mysterious background. Kyoko begins a struggle against being typecasted and accepts the first Love Me Section job in a while from the president as someone with a close connection to Ren appears, Koo (original Katsuki actor).
Kinda unimpressed with the companies (also Sho's) response to Reino's stalking/creepy harassment; but with the #meToo campaign kicking off in real life it is probably reflective of what the industry is like. Need mooooore
I had some real issues with some previous volumes lately but this one felt a lot more even keeled. Great chemistry and some development with both Ren & Kyoko, let's hope it keeps on in the next few volumes!
I hated every second of this because of the damn arc. It was very unappealing. And creepy. Which, sure, that life does have some unappealing and creepy shit in it, but I didn’t want to fucking read it happening. I hope I never see the creeper band again. I will scream.
