Max’s Easter Surprise is a charming holiday-themed children’s book that delivers a sweet, simple story about Max and his Easter adventure. The illustrations are colorful and engaging, making it visually appealing for young readers. However, the storyline feels a bit cheap, and some parts could have been more exciting to hold a child’s attention. While it’s a pleasant read for Easter time, it may not stand out among other holiday favorites. Overall, it’s a decent book that kids will enjoy, but it lacks the extra spark to make it truly memorable. 3/5 stars.

Rating this book based on my nieces feedback to the book

Age 3: Did not like the story or the illustration, she doodled on the book right after LOL

Age 5: Liked the story, easy to follow and understand, she was ok with the illustration

I think this book was easy to read along with enough text on each page, so that they don't get bored while waiting for me to finish reading the page.

Easy to explain the "hard" words. :)

Once again, modern children books' illustrations strike this book out. The story was fun and light hearted, and captured a sweet Max who is a great character. However, the computer designed art just ruins this book, and once again makes the book look like it was created with cheap clipart. Too bad - these books always have great potential and muck it up with the illustrations...which is why I don't like modern cartoons as well, but I won't get on that soapbox:)

I always reading Max and Ruby books with my kids when they were little and the cartoon was one of their favorites. Rosemary Wells always has a sweet little story. Ruby is so patient with her little brother and Max never fails to surprise her. In this book Ruby and Louise are busy painting Easter eggs. They give each one to Max to carry to the basket in the dining room. But of course, he has another idea. This sweet book would make a lovely addition to any preschooler's Easter Basket.

A lovely fun book for the kid in all of us & one that siblings can relate to.
Max as usual interprets the request of his sister in his own way.

The Easter Bunny left this book for Fritz today in his Easter Basket. Fritz loves Max and Ruby!

We have read this twice already. Max is hellbent on having a parade. Ruby and her friend Louise explain that the parade is tomorrow; today is the day for dying eggs. Max has other plans, as he is wont to do.

This book is an excellent anchor book for quotations and onomatopoeia. It is simply displayed.

Happy Easter, Fritz!

A very cute book that will have children moving from the tv set to books when Max and Ruby goes off. Getting children into reading has never been more important than in tdays world.

Read this to some firsties. True to firm, Max is up to something no one suspects, despite his earnest hints.
