Although writing prompts of all kinds can be easily obtained, not all can provide the inspiration one needs.
After reading Kat Caldwell’s Push a Pencil: 40 Prompts to Further Develop Your Creative Writing, I experienced an itch (which is how best I can explain it!) to start writing. The 40 prompts cover different subjects and give suggestions as to how you can follow them. The great majority of them have examples from the author, which is something I had never encountered before. I found the examples to be useful in understanding the prompts.
Anyone can benefit from using them. If you’re a romance writer, you’re covered. The same can be said for those writing political thrillers, sci-fi and fantasy, fan fic, memoir, etc.
Among my favorites are: #5 - Tough Love, #22 - Six Strangers and a Camera, #26 - Fan Fiction, #34 - Tale of Old, and #37 - Write What You Know.
A free copy was offered as a gift to the subscribers of the author’s newsletter. My review is of my own free will, in appreciation of the wonderful book I received!
