This book is likely helpful for the parents of children with disabilities trying to decide whether to create a special needs trust, but it certainly does not beat the tailored advice of a special-needs attorney. Also, if you are a person with a disability wanting to create your own special needs trust, this book is not for you – your situation is referenced only in footnotes that warn you not to follow the advice within.

Very easy to understand, great samples of all the different types of paperwork necessary in the appendix. Seems to be pushing you to write your own trust (well, copy theirs) rather than consult a lawyer. I dunno, seems like I want a lawyer involved and I'm not sure the trust they have exactly fits my situation anyway.

Super helpful and I got some answers that I needed. But the entire subject is overwhelming in general. With that said, I'll probably reread the book soon as I felt it was clear and really accessible for my scrambled mind.

Some good explanations about what's available. Some good definition of terms.

It has to be broad for national (US) use. Definitely still see an attorney with special expertise in this field, but this is a good start before you go.

Easy to read, which makes the book accessible to a wide audience, but intolerably dumbed-down in places. On the upside, I saved literally thousands of dollars by creating the trust myself.

I hope you do not have to read this book. But if you have a special needs child it helps. Still spend $3500 on a lawyer to get our SNT etc. set up.
