Billionaire's Secret Baby

Rate this book
The plan was to talk some sense into my ex's big brother... not have the billionaire heir's baby.

I should have left. Instead… I got in my birthday suit, wearing nothing but his favorite red lipstick. I know... I was asking for trouble.

With no one else around and our emotions at an all-time high, there was no hiding from what we both always wanted.

Until it was over, and my high school crush... crushed my heart.

I told myself It never happened. It was late in the woods, and no one heard me screaming his name.

I moved far away from our small town and started a new life.

When that started falling apart, I needed to return home.

The moment I arrived, there he was… in my newly inherited coffee shop. His deep green eyes pierced through me and drew me close to him as if we had never parted.

It turns out... he’s still secretly crazy about me. But I have a secret of my own that will change his life forever and may tear his family apart.

But... I can't keep running. It's time to face the music.

SPOILER WARNING!!!

It takes real talent and imagination for someone to write a story of any kind and allow the reader to get lost in the words and the character’s world that is being built within the pages. In this story, there is no story or imagination and that unfortunately is the problem.

Not only are the characters unlikable and lack any chemistry or deep feelings for one another, but you don’t see them progress from point A to B – not in the past or in the present – to show us they are in love and meant to be. In fact, if anyone can call this a “romance”, then I have a bridge to sell you.

Plot:

Heroine, Hero & Hero’s younger brother grew up together as their parents were good friends. Hero is a few years older than the other two and he had a crush on heroine when they were in their teens but never did anything about it. Heroine & the brother were BFFs and then became lovers. Hero was crushed.
A couple of years later, heroine & the brother break things off and she & hero end up having a ONS. He regrets it afterwards and kicks her out. She finds a bit later that she is pregnant and doesn’t tell Hero or anyone else outside her parents. She leaves and heads to the West Coast where she goes to college and becomes a lawyer while also raising her kid.

6 or 7 years later *(how long she was gone & how old the kid is inconsistent as the math doesn’t add up) she comes home because she was fired from her job because she was a lousy lawyer. She runs into Hero and tells him he has a kid after her parents shame her for not telling him. He doesn’t take the news very well and refuses to believe it until he has her do a DNA Test which then becomes a tedious & boring monologue of him getting to know his kid and a bit of angst with his family & the brother feeling “betrayed” at the two of them (even though at this stage the brother is happily in love & married to his soulmate and doesn’t have any feelings for heroine or her for him. LOL) .

Anyway, this goes on for most of the story of about 90-95% with no development in feelings, attraction or bonding between the MCs. Then suddenly, they finally kiss and have sex and are about to express deep feelings which came out of nowhere, when they are interrupted in the form of OW whom up until then we were led to believe Hero did not date because he was a workaholic. Over & over again we are told he had no time for dating or relationships after his father died which was 6-7 yrs prior because he was building the company that his father left him to support his family. But it turns out that is not quite true because the OW that came to the picture all of a sudden is someone he dated for a few months/years and was in love. So no, he was not pining for heroine and neither was she for him because we learn that she had many ONS with other guys pre & post Hero, and we even get a lovely snippet from the ex/brother to Hero about how heroine was “great in the sack”.

Then of course because someone realized this was a BIG YAWN, we get a little more drama with OW trying to make waves; Oh wait… not really because her sole purpose was to show reader how Hero never gave a shit for heroine and he had very hot sex with OW and continued to do so even after they broke up and now they were even good friends - and OF COURSE she and heroine now have to become BFFs too and perhaps share pointers in the future? Or maybe they can have threesome or foursomes? Who knows why people think inserting this crap is in any way entertaining. 🥵

Here’s a little of Hero & OW:

Her looks were what first drew me to her. Her personality made me fall in love with her. I met Camila when I was twenty-seven years old. Back then, the attraction between us was almost instantaneous. We slept together a few times before I asked her out officially, but things turned sour a few months into our relationship.

She claimed that she could feel that I wasn’t fully opening up to her. My heart wasn’t in it, or something like that. Naturally, I didn’t understand her. I had confessed that I loved her and so I wasn’t sure what more she expected from me.

Camila was safe, and I thought that was all I needed. Until she was courageous enough to end our relationship. We both knew safe didn’t mean true love. And now she’s here. I haven’t seen her in more than a year, but Camila’s one of those exes you keep in contact with. We stayed friends even after our breakup, which was probably a bad idea owing to the fact that the lingering feelings always led to us sleeping with each other.

There’s no way her appearance here doesn’t get me fucked.

“You seem mad that I’m here. I’m pretty sure we left our relationship in a good place the last time we met up,” she states, biting her bottom lip.

The last time we met up, I fucked her brains out in a hotel room. Christine can absolutely not find that out.

Fuck me.

In the past, all she had to do was bat those perfect eyelashes at me and I was a slave to her whims. But I can’t afford to fall for that now. I have Christine to think about. She should be the only one I’m thinking about.

Then of course realizing that 95% of it was a big bore, perhaps the best thing to do is just cram every overused plot out there and wrap it up. That came in the form of Hero learning that she was having sex with OM before she came home. And yes, let's also include a bit of suspense in a non-suspense plot in the form of an intruder breaking into heroine’s home and trying to kidnap kid/kill her which we also never find out who this person was or why he did what he did. Anyway, cue Hero to the rescue (but not really) and The End.

So what did we learn here today kids? Ah yes…. If you are a jaded individual who has no clue what fictional romance is, please stay away. Please? 🤯

Okay read. Two friends who have always had hidden feelings for each other.
Secret child, that also suffers from ADHD. I like the way Michael makes sure he has an understanding of his son’s needs. Christine and Michael work through their past relationships, and realise that they were always meant to be together.

Complications and Forgiveness . . .

Christine had been dating Matt Crane until they figured they would just stay friends. But a one-night-stand with Matt’s older brother, the one she had always cared for, forced her to leave town to start her life over. Things didn’t work out, however, and when she loses her job as a criminal defense attorney, she returns home. But the secret she has kept from Michael for the past 6 years may bring more pain to his family and may break her heart all over again. Because even when she told him Noah was his son, he didn’t believe her. Where will they go from here? Can they resolve their animosity? Can they all come together as family?

This story was well-written with characters whose interaction help the reader understand some of the issues they are dealing with, such as the effects of ADHD. Grab your copy and see if they can work out the issues that make it difficult to forgive and move forward.

Micheal has a crush on Christine since childhood but thing are complicated because she was Micheal’s brother ex- girlfriend. And then there’s the baby or should I say child. She was oblivious that he had a thing for her, while she too had a crush on him. Then you ask yourself “why did she date the younger brother?” Great question: the younger brother felt like he was in Micheal’s , older brother, shadows and wanted to have her first because, drum roll, he found out that his older brother had a crush on his best friend Christine. And there you go folks!.

Mike and Matt Crane’s dad died two days ago, and, Christine came home, to give her condolences, to the people who were more like a second family, than anything else. Albeit unusual due, to the fact that she, and, Matt once dated in college, from freshman year to senior year. Until they decided it wouldn't work with her going on, to law school, and then moving, to LA for work. So, when she shows up at the house, Mike is downright hostile, to her. For him, she will forever be the woman who hurt his brother’s heart.

At this point, she and, Matt have been broken up, a little over a year, by then. For Matt, it was a relief, to see her as if, life is righting itself. He even took her in to see his mom, and they are so close, holding each other, and crying together. As if, Christine is like the daughter, she never had. But, when, Matt observes, Mike, and, Christine having words he tells her, to please talk, to him. Mainly, because he has yet, to cry. She tried, to tell him she is public enemy number one, but he wouldn’t take no, for an answer.

So, she finally just shows up at his secret getaway. Where she found that he had finally been sleeping. So, her interruption irritates him. Anyway, she gets him talking like, she used to. Because believe it, or not back in the day they used, to be friends. She even got him, to let down his walls enough, to cry in her arms. Then, one stolen kiss turns into so much more. In the light of day guilt and anger take Mike under so when Christine wakes up he treats her no better than a cheap lay.

Six years later. She is being fired, from her job, as an attorney. All because she has morals, and helped the other team, convict her client. Yeah, and not for the first time. But, her boss likes her so much, he did convince her client, to not file charges, and to have her disbarred. When she tells her parents, they tell her it's time, to come home, and face the skeletons in the closet. Meaning she needs, to tell the baby daddy, and his family about, Noah.

See how it all goes down, bringing the existence of her son, to light. How is she, to know that, Matt is getting married? Not only is, Matt, but half the town will notice her, back in town with her son. Her parents bullied her, into everything. However, you can’t blame her, especially, after the way he got rid of her, the night they both created, Noah. Then, you factor in her being a single, new mom, and scared of the magnitude of, the Crane name, who can blame her? This is a very good story.

The description isn't what I read unless the story was changed. The story was entertaining and flowed nicely but then it seemed towards the end it kinda went in two directions. Christine is a family friend and with the family grieving her ex and best friend asks her to talk to his brother Matthew who is holding it together and trying to be the strong one for everyone. One thing leads to another they wind up sleeping together which results in a pregnancy. With everything that went down has her leaving and cutting ties with the family. I somewhat liked Christine and how she interacted with the characters but I think giving her a profession of lawyer how can she see what she did was not wrong. The families being friends especially the moms and nothing being said. These are things that just bothered me a little. I read this from a copy I received through kindle documents.

However, nothing goes according to plan when she tells him what she has been hiding. Will they get a chance to be together? Will she leave town again?

A Secret Baby Story

Many of the ideas of this story were intriguing, but the follow through of plot and dialogue development lacked the depth a story needs to entice the reader. The main male character’s reaction to the lead female’s reveal seemed an overreaction, given the female’s motivations, though those reasons were not well communicated in dialogue. There were several conflicts that seemed to simply resolve. The characters disagreed, then suddenly they were both in agreement all was fine. I wanted to see a HEA so I stuck it through to the end, but I checked several times to see how close I was to the end. A book you can’t get enough of has you wishing you wouldn’t run out of pages.

Christine and Matt are best friends, and after giving dating a go, they mutually agree that they are better off just remaining friends. Michael is Matt’s elder brother, and he and Christine spend a spicy night together before she leaves for a fresh start. When Christine loses her job, she returns to her hometown with her son. How will Michael react to finding out he is a dad? This is a well written story which is an emotional roller coaster, with heartbreak, secrets, second chances, animosity, loss, regrets, healing, family, friendships, and love, which leads to a wonderful small town romance story.

Took a shot with this one...pretty good book

I liked this one. I was surprised how deep and in depth the angst and push and pull went between the two MC'S went compared to other books I've read that have been written in this genre... at times it almost went a little overboard. I liked both main characters despite both their stubbornness, and ability to every interaction between them into an argument. I thought the son was cute, and that the author did an excellent job describing and setting up scenes explaining and displaying scenarios with his ADHD. Took a shot with this one...pretty good book

I'm confused by the high ratings. I have to make some sort of ledger of authors to never read from again. This was just bad. I know the characters were supposed to be late twenties to early thirties but it read like junior high. The only redeeming aspect was the respect the author showed to handling the kid having ADHD. That was it. Honestly I'm still struggling to finish this and I want to quit every page.

Couldn't put this down until I finished it...
I won't outline the story as that's detailed in the blurb & several reviews. I felt that I was on the journey with the main characters, running the gamut of emotions, good & bad. I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.

Micheal is her ex boyfriends older brother. They were all friends first but when his father dies Christine comforts him and one thing leads to another. Fast forward five years and she has a secret. This is a great story of love and family.

Michael Crane is CEO of Crane Industries which was started by his father and 15 others who make up the Board of Directors. His father died and it shook him up. It is now six years later and he is taking a break from work to attend his brother Matthew’s wedding in their home town of Arcola.

Christine Lawson is a lawyer in Los Angeles with a six year old named Noah. She was fired so she is moving home to Arcola to be near her parents until she can figure things out. They help her get a 2 bedroom apartment near Noah’s new school. Her parents sign over their coffee shop to Christine so they can fully retire.

Christine used to date Matthew and she finds out the whole Crane family is coming back to Arcola for Matthew’s wedding. Her parents want her to tell the Crane family about Noah. But which brother is Noah’s father? Can Christine tell the Crane family that Noah is part of it? How will the various Crane family members react?

I enjoyed finding out who Noah’s father is and how everyone reacts to the news.

Christine and Michael grew up together as their parents were good friends, Christine was BFFs with Michaels brother and they dated, this was hard on Michael as he had a crush on her.
Years later when Christine and the brother have broken up, Christine ends up having a one night stand with Michael while he is mourning his father. He regrets it the next day and kicks her out, but Christine later finds out that she is pregnant. She ends up leaving and going to college to become a lawyer while raising their child.
Years later and Christine returns home after being fired from her job and ends up running her parents coffee shop. She is shamed into telling Michael about their child by her parents. He is not happy that she hid a child from him and doesn't believe her at first. They still have feelings for each other but can they ever be together as a family.

Christine wanted to comfort Michael after the death of his father. Christine had been Michael’s brother Matt’s girlfriend a couple of years ago. Christine followed Michael to a cottage where the two of them were intimate. Afterwards Michael felt awful and was quite rude to Christine. She left their small town and moved to Los Angeles, had a child and became a lawyer. Michael went on to run his dad’s company.
Six years later Matt is getting married and Christine has returned home and the truth comes out. These two families who were extremely close will they be able to handle this secret? Will Michael and Christine fall in love as they begin to co parent their son? This was an easy book to read. There wasn’t much angst. This is a slow burn book. These two people are friends and it takes them a while for their friendship to blossom into something more.

Michael and Christine have an intimate moment during his lowest moment in life. When she finds out she is expecting a child she runs. Six years later on his brother's wedding day she tells him about their child. Shocked Michael doesn't know what to do at first. When the dust clears will he and Christine come together for their son and will it lead them to a happily ever after. This story kept me glued to the pages to see how their story ends!

Michael was hurting from losing his father. So when him and Christine have a night, it gave them a special gift. When she couldn't figure out how to handle it, she left only to have to return 6 years later with a surprise for Michael. As they spend time together and realizes their feelings for each other, they both wonder if they can have a happily ever after or is there still to much pain from the past to move forward? Love this book.

This is a second chance romance between Christine and Michael, who had a one night stand. These flawed but likeable characters, the strong connection, the combustible chemistry, and the unique plot make for an entertaining read. Once they reconnect, it is a bumpy ride with some steam, drama, humor, family dynamic, twists and turns, and engaging secondary characters to keep the reader interested. An emotional love story.

Normally I don't read secret baby stories but this one was done so right. Christine and Michael have know each other for most of their life. Unfortunately they never explored their feelings for each other. I love how in a relatively short story Ashlie Silas is able to develop her characters so much. You get to experience their growth.

Michael and Christine

This is the story of two messed up people who couldn't acknowledge their attraction to each other. The emotional baggage, the fears, the miscommunication: this book will have you tied in knots as to whether to laugh or cry with the problems facing this couple. I really liked how the ADD of Noah was dealt with by his parents.

This book will have you engrossed from the beginning until the end and the storyline flowed throughout the book. Christine dated Matt at one time and they decided to be friends until one night stand with his brother had her moving away and now 6 years later the truth and secret comes out but will it destroy her ? Great story.

A year after Christine and Matthew broke up, Michael and Matthew's father passes away, and Michael and Christine have a one-night stand. Six years later, Christine moves back to their hometown with a six-year-old son in tow. This story has lots of misunderstandings, romance, and steam, with a HEA at the end. Very highly recommended.
