Please look up the trigger warnings!!!!
This was soo heartwrenching.. I had to stop reading on multiple occasions but not in a bad way, I simply felt a bit overwhelmed with the heavy topics going on but this story was written very well.
I felt such hatred for some characters and I also loved other characters. Violet, baby you deserve so so so much better than what you got during your teenage years🥺 She is so strong and I'm so proud that she kept going even though people were taking advantage of her and bringing her down.. Her mother also... I want to strangle that woman so badly😠
I could have never guessed the plot twist. Which I still want to know more about so I need book 2 like right now😅

I tore through this book in less than a day so that should certainly speak volumes! I’m using Kindle Vella for the first time so I can keep reading as this book DOES end on a serious cliffhanger.
The story was so beautifully written and incredibly easy to digest. I was constantly asking questions and I never really knew where the story was going to go. At a certain point, I started guessing what the plot twist was and I got it!
This is definitely a slow burn so if you don’t like that, this will not be for you! I’ve been reading some heavy, fast-paced books recently so this was a nice change of pace & I really enjoyed it.
The author doesn’t go too into detail regarding the SA or assaults and I’m grateful for that as it didn’t take away from the real message in the story. It breaks my heart to see how this girl was taken advantage of in so many ways & I can’t wait to keep reading to find out what the big secret is!!

I was not expecting that cliffhanger
This story got me sucked in from the very first chapter. It was a quick and easy read. What I really loved about the book was every other chapter was a flashback. It was good to understand Violets Point of view things that happened during her childhood and made her the way she is.
The cliffhanger was something that was not expecting. I knew something was going on but I couldn't figure it out. Let me just say, you will be shocked.
I am looking forward to reading the second part of this book. I will say that there are some dark themes to this book that I think readers should look at before reading.

Major TW: sexual assault of a minor
I give this one 3.5 ⭐️ while it was hard to read at times, the story was interesting and kept me intrigued. I did predict the ending and for that reason, I’m not sure I’ll continue on with the series, but a good book nonetheless.

Her Dark Secrets by Victoria Wright is a deeply thought out novel. The author draws the reader in by laying the foundation of why Violet had to escape her Uncle Ted’s abuse.
At the beginning of the novel, Violet returns with her daughter Rose for her Uncle Ted’s funeral. The family hasn’t seen her in four years since she ran away. The family had never even met Rose. There is an eerie sense of question on Violet’s true reason for returning. As questions begin to unfold new information is shared. The reader believes that Violet returned to come clean to her family about Ted’s abuse, but when doing so she finds out from her older brother Tobias that she has inherited the entire Ranch.
Now, she is faced with the perplexing decision to stay on the Ranch or return to where she has escaped too. As she ponders these decisions the author flashes back to develop Violet as a character and assist the reading in understanding the true form of the abuse. Also, the reader keeps turning the page to determine who the true father is to Rose.
The twists and turns of this novel keeps the reader engaged and wanting more answers. The author is talented in developing the story plot and mysteriously leaving bread crumbs for the reader to follow.

I don’t even know where to start. So much went on within this first book that just broke my heart multiple times over. Not only that but I must have cried enough tears to fill a bath tub.
I like to go blind into my books so all I knew going into it was that we’re following Violet who returns after 4 years to her family ranch after the death of her uncle. Add in family, lies and the truth about the past and your in for a bumpy ride.
I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t put it down but I will say please check the TWs before reading, as it does touch on some dark subject matter.
It ending on such a cliffhanger that I seriously can’t wait for the second book in the series to come out.

I found this book while scrolling TikTok, and am I glad I came across it? YES.
This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through! It was emotional, heart wrenching, brilliant, gutting and so beautifully written! I read it in around 4 hours! It was that addictive!
The twist? I did not for one second expect it! It absolutely knocked me for six (in a good way) and the fact it ended on a cliff hanger has me begging for more!
I can’t wait for part two!

If you want to read this book all I have to say is be ready because you won’t expect the unexpected. Also, theres a lot of TWs in the book which made me feel very uncomfortable..In the beginning of the book I liked it a lot because the story was definitely a slow burn. I did shed a few tears here and there because it was really sad especially what Violet went through. However….the plot twist shocked me the most because again I never SAW that coming. I was confused how and why it even happened but still it was just uhm..disturbing. I was kinda bummed out because of the cliffhanger so im definitely going to read the second book for this because wdym it ends like this😭 I only rated a 3 star because I was uncomfortable with the plot twist

No 2nd book available (can’t even find it on Wella but maybe that’s just due to where I am?) and no information on when the proper second book will come out! 😩
By the time it does I will have probably forgotten but would definitely read now if it was out.

Started on 6/5 and had to stop bc it got to the point where it was too much for me. A part of me - the curios part- wants to keep reading. At the same time tho, I wanna keep my sanity. So thx but no thx. I'll update this for a better review later :/

The FMC is SA for years by her uncle, another friend and at the end we find out her brother fathered her daughter. It is also revealed that her brother was adopted but they grew-up together and it seems that they have feelings for each other. I wouldn't have read the book if I knew this was in there....big fat DNF ....

Meh. That's all I can think to say. Not terrible, not great. I do always find darker themes more interesting to read so that is the reason for the 3 stars. But, the adopted siblings get together reveal at the end just weirded me out, sorry.
