Simon Christopher Francis Furman is a British comic book writer who is best known for his work on Hasbro/Tomy's Transformers franchise, starting with writing Marvel's initial comic book to promote the toyline worldwide, as well as foundations for both Dreamwave Production's and IDW Publishing's takes on the Generation 1 minifranchise.

The UK comic is getting into its stride with more elaborate storytelling and this volume gives us an extended series of interlinked stories, jumping -- mostly successfully -- between parallel plotlines. Splitting the two main characters of the franchise -- Megatron and Optimus Prime -- and dumping them into new and unexpected situations refreshes the strip, and allows for some good character moments as their personalities and positions are restated in the new contexts. There are also some unexpected but welcome dips into horror, and some great art from the underrated Will Simpson and the peerless Geoff Senior.
