For adventurous steel heiress Violet Warren, life is satisfactory but not truly satisfying. It's the wake of World War I, and although she has some friends and a mysterious book to keep her company, Violet finds life in 1919 Pittsburgh stifling. An adventure in Egypt seems just the solution she needs. Unfortunately, Violet fails to take into account the ongoing revolt of Egyptian nationals. When the train she’s riding on is attacked, a mysterious figure appears and ushers her to safety. But who is this strange man who calls himself Leontios? Can he truly be an ancient magician brought back to life by wild magic, and will he save Violet — and all of Egypt — from an unknown threat, or lead her to her doom? This slow-burn romance contains graphic sex and is not suitable for readers under the age of 18. This is the large print edition of You Within Me, with a larger font / typeface for easier reading.
Hello, I am Simone Beaudelaire, romance enthusiast, freelance proofreader, and novice author. In real life, I'm a wife, mother, and full time high school French teacher, which doesn't leave me a lot of time for my hobby. Of course, that hasn't stopped me yet. I hope I can connect with other readers of romance (and other genres. I love to read, and through my beta reading group, I have recommendations in all different categories.)
You Within Me is a beautifully, masterful story about learning to listen and follow your heart in spite of everything around you. This story transcends the limitations and oppression of society to weave a tale that shows us that plans are set in motion of every person on this planet, and it is up to us to choose to walk in the path of our destiny or be impeded and squashed by those who seek to control and manipulate. Can you imagine a life lived to its fullest potential? Now that would be a sight to behold!
Simone Beaudelaire offers us a spectacular story that introduces two headstrong and compelling characters in relation to their time. These characters don't fit the traditional mold, and yet they live their lives in the best way they know how. Never compromising their beliefs and always trying to stay true to their heart, they must work together in order to pull off a critical mission that is bigger then them both. Along the way, secrets and truths are revealed that will never leave them the same again. Above all, they must decide whether their hearts hold the most important truth of all, or if life is good enough lived in only half measures.
This author took my heart and mind on one wild adventure that challenged and dared me every step of the way. She pulled me in multiple directions and forced me to really think for myself. I was an active participant in this story, and I was taken aback by that at first. However, I soon came to realize that I enjoyed thinking outside the box, and more then anything, I don't like to accept what is fed to me. I want to actively seek out the truth and find what may be partially hidden behind the wisdom of the time.
I was given a copy of this book to read and review...I must say that it was a very interesting read. It was truly different than the normal PNR. In fact, I have never read one in this style before. My take is that its a PNR historical with dash of “Genie of the lamp” stirred in. I will let you read it to see what I mean. I hate it when a review gives me too much and spoils my surprise. But I will say that if ONLY my books could do what Violet’s did.
The interaction between Violet and Leontios is entertaining. Although, I did struggle with them a time or two. I love a spirited and independent female lead who has to deal with a macho alpha. This is more about Violet than Leo, or at least that’s how it read to me. It could be different to someone else.
It takes place after one of the world wars, the other pandemic and an Egyptian Civil War. So, she is having to work thru her core beliefs instilled into how a woman behaved in the early 20th century.
In. 2080 BC Leontios put his wife for religious ceremonies in a crystal it was the key to finding the city that he hid from the world and put himself in a book. In 1909 Violet found the book on a trip to Greece and bought the crystal in 1919 at a seance and found the language key in a store in Egypt. She was reading the book and lost the book when train was overran by a terrorist group but the book became human again. They went on a hunt for the city before the main crystal blows up they did find it before it exploded. The ending was great. Good book!
