I found the blurb of this book (written above) to be a little bit misleading. Yes, there are certain aspects of it that are accurate but I also feel as though there are a few embellishments that aren't quite necessary. I watch the TV show, One Tree Hill, which this book is based on and I have watched the episodes that are related to this book. When I read a book, I watch what is happening in my mind. I have a very vivid imagination. I could easily imagine this in my mind because I had seen it happen on TV. Had I not watched it I think that it would have been slightly more difficult to imagine the scenes that I was reading. I feel that, at times, the book seemed to have been written by a teenager themselves. I understand that this book, like the show is aimed primarily at teenagers and young adults but I think that the structure of the story and the way that it was written could have been better. If you enjoy the TV show then I would recommend this book as it is pretty accurate in terms of what you will have seen on the show, however if you are not a fan of the series then you might not find this book as interesting. This is because you might not know the background of the characters involved which are pretty important to be able to fully enjoy and appreciate the book.
Lucas Scott is a moody rebel. Nathan Scott is a privileged preppy. Luke grew up poor, on the outskirts of town. Nathan grew up wealthy and owns the town. Now the two half brothers are basketball teammates and sometime rivals for the same girl.
UGH the way I still love Tree Hill is just unmatched. My favorite season of the show is Season 2, which may seem weird to some other die hards because it's probably the most problematic of all the seasons (IYKYK). But Season 2, the caliber was just exquisite. So even though this says it's an "original story", it basically is the premise of Season 2 of the show. Half star deduction for calling it original. Nonetheless, I loved going back in time with these characters and re-living their stories. Nothing holds a candle to this show and it will always be my fave.
If you are looking for a book that stays true to the story and just gives another point of view, I'd skip this read. It was loosely accurate, but it frustrated me when the feeling of a certain event wasn't as intensely as it was in the show and very just different. I was also frustrated by no actual chapters. Certain parts were incredibly long with no real break point.
At the time I had no access to season 2, so this book was the way I caught up while the third season was airing and until I got to watch it was just such a great re-telling of the story from one of the best characters from the show.
Brucas fans will love it. They are really cute in this book. But that's about all that I liked about it.
I get that it's a book so it's different than the show, but wow, from the first page Haley is mentioned in, Brooke hates her so much? And they really make her such a bad person which is the exact opposite of what she is in the show. And the way she leaves Nathan, and he just moves on with Peyton like nothing? After crying for what, an hour? Wow.
I feel like after reading this, I should give the 1st book 5 stars. Yeah Brooke is interesting, but I would have liked to know what was going on in everyone else's minds.

The first one was much better (read it, it's great!) - therefore, I cannot give it more than 2 stars. If I could give 2.5, I would. I didn't like the change of perspecitve to Brooke - although she is a girl I couldn't identify with her in the first half of the book or so. So, it took too long to really dive into the story.
I actually really enjoyed this book. I loved how it was told from Brooke's perspective. very interesting, I just wish there was more books in the series!
