Oh, Nanny Piggins, how much do I love your absurdity, your outrageousness, and your love of cakes?
A lot!
These books are laugh out loud funny. If you are feeling down, turn to Nanny Piggins for the cure - she won't let you down.
I love Nanny Piggins so much I attempted to see if the books that have been released in the UK and Australia that have not yet been released here in the States could be found for a reasonable price. (The answer is no. No ebook releases via amazon.uk and no release yet in Cananda, where I could have made a quick trip over the border. Sigh. I'll just have to wait . . . )
My fav quotes from this volume:
"'Experience has taught me that it is always better to be well rested than to know what you are doing,' said Nanny Piggins wisely."
"'Do they ever ask pirates to come and speak to you at your school's career day?'
'No,' admitted Derek. 'They usually just have accountants come and tell us how accountancy is really exciting.'
'They let people come and lie to you?' asked Nanny Piggins. 'Your headmaster is a very immoral man.'"
"And since it was a rainy day and they could not go outside to harass the community in person, Nanny Piggins suggested that they spend the afternoon blowing spitballs at passing pedestrians who did not look nice. Which, as it turned out, was a delightful way to while away their time."
"Yes, I know, because schools are cruel, illogical, and unfair. But the thing is, life is cruel, illogical, and unfair. That is why the education system works so well. If schools and teachers did a good job and inspired children and made them enthusiastic about every subject, they would only be sadly disappointed when they got out into the real world. Better to disappoint them when they're young. It is more important to learn to cope with disappointment than learn how to do long division." - Nanny Piggins
