Lori lives in Wisconsin with her husband, daughter, son, Siberian husky and shepherd/puggle cross.
Lost is book one in the Lost series. It is a series of four novellas by Lori Devoti.
Rachel Daniels is with three of her friends when they were driving through the canyon on a dare. It is said that there is a horrible creature lurking in the canyon so they are determined to face their fears and prove everyone wrong. But then their car crashed. Rachel is the only one that is unhurt. Nancy is badly injured. The other two maybe not as lucky. There is no cell signal so Rachel goes for help. Rachel finds herself face to face in the darkness with a man, though, this is no ordinary man.
Cameron Renault is in the canyon looking for his brother Dorian. Cameron is a vampire. His brother has given in to the monster within him and Cameron is determined to save him. But when Cameron finds Rachel, badly in need of help, he knows that if he doesn’t help her first, she will fall victim to his brother. What is it about her, though, that calls to him? Is it the woman or is it her blood?
When they return to the crash site, Nancy is gone! Is she still alive or has Cameron’s brother killed her?
This is a very short introduction into this novella series. I’ve been wanting to read it forever. I enjoyed it and look forward to finding out what happens next.
This is called 'book one' but should really be 'part one' because barely anything is resolved in the short amount of time we have with the characters. What we do get though is an interesting start to what could be a fantastic storyline. Though this is supposed to be about Rachel and Cameron, it's truly also about Nancy and Dorian, the stars of part 2, because all of their stories are bound up together.
This part introduces us to the horrific situation quite succinctly. There has been an accident and Rachel is desperate to help her friends, but she's turned up in the middle of another situation between Cameron and Dorian. Suspecting his brother to be a danger, Cameron has followed him into the cursed canyon and the presence of bleeding young ladies is not going to help matters. Now, I know there's more to Dorian than we've been given so far, mainly because he's in part 2. But also because of the way it's presented. I'm excited about the back story we'll hopefully be given about the brothers AND about the canyon. What is going on there?!
I hope there's more on Cameron's tooth caps too. Because for them to work how I imagine them, he must have baby vampire teeth! Which would be hilarious and not at all scary. Unfortunately I think that they're not going to be mentioned again.
Turns out this is actually 1 of 4. I wonder how this will work. Will part 2 have the same kind of ending as this? How frustrating. I better go find out.
Rachel and her friends are on a dare from their sorority to spend the night in a canyon full of nightmares and horror stories.
Rachel and her friends wreck their car and all the girls but Rachel are too hurt to go for help. Rachel is unable to find her way back to the road and ends up scaling a cliff to try and get cell phone service. This is where she meets Cameron, who is a vampire that is reluctant to help, but feels drawn to her.
This was a Novella, so as usual I felt the desire for it to be longer and more developed. Really, I think I need to stop reading Novella's. I was prompted to read something by this Author as she friend requested me here on GoodReads.
I read easily through the book and it held my attention. I was very pleased to find that although it was written in 3rd person, there was more then one characters point of view presented. One thing I find lacking in most of the recent vampire romances/fantasy novels that I've read is the ability to have insight into other characters then the protagonist.
I will read another book by Lori Devoti, but I will pick a full length novel next time.
It can be very hard to find short stories that are written well enough for you to engage with the characters but I thought Lori Devoti did a really good job with this. It was quite easy to relate to the fear that Rachel is feeling & Cameron is very attractive. At first you're not sure if he will help her or whether he will leave her to her own devices & then you have the added complication of his brother Dorian.
The story was well written & kept my interest to the end. It was a nice quick read if you've only got a small amount of spare time. I would quite like to see more of these characters so it will be interesting to see if they crop up in a future book.
You have to be freaking kidding me!!! no way, this is a story with no end, a well character built at first and then poof it ends before anything happens!! what happend with Dorian Cameron`s brother? with Nancy Rachel´s friend? and did she went on her own, nothing really happens in this book!! so frustrating!! I know this is meant to be a short story but you can`t just drop in the middle of nowhere!!!

I downloaded Lost onto my Kindle and the 2nd book Found was attached. The two stories together made a great read. I was pulled in from the beginning. Rachel finds herself lost in the middle of a cursed canyon, trying to find help for her friends after they've been in a car accident. She just happens to run into a handsome young man (Cameron) who is not what he seems. He is a vampire, who is searching for his brother, who's gone rogue. But there is more to this tale. I really enjoyed it.
There really wasn't any substance to this book. The book is too short to have any kind of conclusion. Fortunately, on my Kindle the two books in this series come together for one low price. I have started the second book. Maybe it will bring some closure to the story line. Otherwise, it is an easy ready and kind of interesting.
This was a really great book. The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is that it ended and I wanted more. I wanted to see how some of the things from the story turned out. There really should be an entire new book. I really enjoyed this story though. It's two short stories that kept me entertained from the beginning to the end. I will certainly read more Lori Devoti books.
After a car crash that may have taken her friends’ lives, Rachel Daniels finds herself lost on a cursed mountain. Her only hope to escape the place and save her friends is the man she finds wandering through the night; except Cameron Renault is no ordinary man. He’s a vampire and Rachel’s nightmare may have just begun. 4 stars
I loved this Vampire Romance! :) This is the first of 4 books in this series. I liked it so much I bought all 4 of the books :0 This story will pull you in almost immediately. I can't wait to see what happens next. I recommend this book to anyone who likes paranormal romances with vampires :) Happy Reading! :)
Very good romance/vampire/fantasy book. Art work on the cover fits the story ... It kept me up all hours trying to absorbe all it had to offer as quickly as I could.
I am actually reviewing the Combo book which contains the full versions of both "Lost" and it's sequel "Found."
Another Eh short story. Good for Halloween, spooky. Action starts off from the get go, leaving you a little disoriented like the female lead. Was a free download for my Nook, don't think I need to read more.
I loved this book. The story flowed and set up beautifully the second in the series so much so I was irritated that I couldn't continue right away as I'm visiting family. I can't wait to finish the series.
this book was enjoyable not a lot happened though and not much romance looking forward to the next one to find out what happens to Rachels friend Nancy :)
I could not even understand what was going on. What was the curse in the mountain anyway? This was unreadable. But the good thing about it is that it was short.
The love that is found in just a short meeting was intense. From saving her friends to saving herself to having to walk away from her savior cant wair to move on to book 2
SENSUALITY RATING: NO profanity; YES Euphemistic "code words” i.e. rubbed her sex against his thigh; Sexual encounters….Not really. Little itty bitty Not Clean (itty bitty). YA book….depends.
GENRE: Paranormal; Romance, Modern day, Vampires
SETTING: Dark canyon said to be haunted.
CENTRAL FEMALE CHARACTER: Rachel Daniels – courageous but easily drawn in
CENTRAL MALE CHARACTER: Cameron Renault – does not care then does care. Hmmm
SYNOPSIS: Auto accident after a dare. A vampire hunting his rogue brother. A girl he tries to save.
WHAT I LIKED: “Go into the sun”. Free book on Amazon
WHAT I DID NOT LIKE: The books in series are way too short. 50 pages on Kindle.
OVERALL RATING: (3) stars because why not write the entire dang series into ONE BOOK. Yes, the author writes well BUT I was biting for more. Book 2 in series is 60 Kindle pages long; no I did not read it. Book 3 in series is 71 Kindle pages long; no I did not read it. Book 4 is 61 Kindle pages long and also did not read. Therefore, not reading pass Book 1.
