This is the first in Moon's Nightwolves series. This is a fast paced story with action that grabs you from chapter one, page one. I read it in just a few hours. Moon has created an imaginative world that is very interesting to read about and is filled with appealing characters. There are vampires ("version 2.0" which have all of the strengths and very few of the weaknesses of regular vamps), terrorists, hellhounds, werewolves, dark gods, demons, fairies, sprites, wizards, portals and vortexes opening and an elite special forces team which is thrust into the supernatural world, not to mention all the goings on in relation to the 2012 prophecy.

The story takes place after a big battle with demons and dark gods has occurred in which our main characters have lost their lives but have been brought back to life as "vampires 2.0" by their goddesses. The prologue contains the bare bones information on all the background which will probably become a prequel in the future.

Catrina, the heroine, 44, is one tough cookie and "a street rat who ran away from home at the age of twelve and hung around bikers for most of her life" with not 1 but 3 soul mates. She's "also a High Priestess and [spiritual] daughter of the Triple Goddess and Her Consort" which makes her a "half blooded Demi-God with [a] physical body." She's a riot, so comical. They get married, yep, 1 big happy family. "Our wedding night would have been the stuff made for vaudeville if it wasn’t so sad seeing a tough biker chick shudder with the nerves of a fragile virgin." Yep, a woman who'd been celibate for 15 yrs with 3 soul mates - rich ones at that. Talk about a fish out of water! And she can't seem to get out of the habit of saying, "No". Cat ends up working with an elite military unit put together specifically for working with Cat and her extended family to form the coalition to help fight the Dark Gods and their minions.

There isn't much of the typical romance going on in this first book. The romance is Cat getting to know and love her soulmates in the physical plane. She already loves them from the astral plane. But she is struggling because she's closed herself off for so long. "Egads, mushy stuff. What am I thinking?" is a typical thought for her when she finds herself softening. While there aren't many sensual scenes, what is there is hot! There is just no time in this first book which is written to set up the basis of the series. The description of the next book in the series suggests the relationships will continue to be explored. I tend to think so since, while there is not a cliffhanger type ending, there is a sense of many tasks left to do and many fights left to fight.

I thoroughly enjoyed this intriguing story. Fans of the paranormal, fantasy and urban fantasy genres should enjoy this book as well.

Divine Treat from an Awesome Storyteller

Catrina is a confident, mouthy, strong, sexy female leader who is here on Earth as a protector. Events have been set in motion that, according to prophecy, will culminate in a series of disasters immense in scope and magnitude by the end of 2012. The cataclysm will have physical as well as metaphysical ramifications. Cat is a Priestess who has come from another place. For fifteen years she has existed only on the astral plane, cursed by an enemy sent from her evil earthly father. Finally, though, Cat broke the curse and now she is looking forward to spending some quality time with her three husbands – her soul mates. As a reward for the previous service Cat and her husbands were given physical enhancements that give them super physical and psychic abilities almost like those a vampire would possess but without most of the limitations commonly associated with vampires.

Catrina is a passenger on a plane whose destination is New York. Her husbands are eagerly anticipating her arrival. Enroute, the plane is hijacked by terrorists. Cat goes into action…grab your popcorn because you will be biting your nails otherwise. The old saying “No good deed ever goes unpunished” is an apt one as Cat is later detained and interrogated for her actions aboard the jet. Then the story truly unfolds as Cat’s family is introduced and an uneasy alliance with a highly skilled Special Forces Team is established.

The action is intense, choreographed with an eye to detail, and the relationships that emerge as a result of the alliance are complex and interesting. At one point I was brought to tears by a tender moment. A few pages later, I found myself scrambling to cool down by turning on the overhead fans. Clarrissa Moon knows how to write a captivating story that wrings out emotion in a cathartic, fully engrossing way sure to leave the reader gasping before feeling that intense satisfaction of the temporarily sated. The next book is Nightwolves on the Prowl. I am going to grab some more popcorn and discover the new adventures that await in the next installment.

Wow. Definitely a book I'd recommend for others. Cat is a Vampire that is also a princess of another world. She lives on Earth in a physical body, has 'astral' siblings also in human form and each have 3 mates. The heroine Cat is a cross between Selene of Underworld and Sarah Conner of The Terminator. She can go from mother with a big heart to kicking evil back into it's own dimension in 2.3 seconds. The book for the most part is tightly written, the writing flows through the scenes and is exciting. The only reason I didn't give it the 5 star rating is due to some parts that were a bit overly long in explaining details. Also there wasn't as much fleshing out of the mates of Cat. I would have loved her mates interacting more in the book. But overall I'd pass this book on to my family and friends knowing they would have fun, excitement and a touch of spice. This author will go far in the world of best sellers. Great job!

This book had me from page one. The lead character, Cat, is one sassy female. We enter this story where Cat finds herself in a position to save many lives including her own. Once that is done, her and her mates create a coalition with the armed forces to do battle against all evil, especially the non-human kind. I found the lead to be engaging and unique, strong yet vulnerable. I enjoyed learning about her, her family and friends as the story unfolded. This book has plenty of action and adventure and keeps an engaging pace throughout. I am anxious to read more of this series and see what other adventures await. Nicely done, Ms. Moon.

Wonderful and fresh new paranormal romance by a new, up & coming author, Clarrissa Lee Moon! Very real characters, very brash and defineately un-PC (but that's the charm and the realness of the book [& series]). It leans heavily towards paranormal action with some romance [sexual scenes]. I can't wait to read all of the books in this series {which will be renamed 'Memoirs of the Nightwolves Series' with the Second Edition prints of books 1 & 2}.

Nightwolves Coalition. Yep, that's the name. Not the greatest title ever conceived, but great things often are hidden by the most modest of trappings. Ms. Clarrissa Lee Moon was kind enough to send an ARC and I decided that I needed a new indie book to review, so synchronicity worked for me this time.

Nightwolves is the story of Catrina and her involvement in the U.S. Military and the saving of the world. That's it.

What? You want more? Sheesh, aren't you demanding! Okay, let's add some Great Magical Races (you know, werewolves, dragons, and the fanged party boys we call vampires), 2012 Mayan Doomsday prophesies, some nifty science that seems to confirm all those wonderful prophesies, and one of Urban Fantasies coolest female protagonists (the aforementioned Catrina, remember?) and her harem of hunky, but oh-so-dangerous dudes.

Cool, huh?

I thought so. From the first chapter, On a Wing and a Prayer, she had me speeding through the pages faster than a politician can steal your kid's piggy bank. Cliches float through my mind....a roller coaster ride...thrilling....fun & exciting...a must-read for all fans of Urban Fantasy, etc, etc.

Damn, I hate cliches, but at least they're accurate. What it comes down to is that I had blast reading this book, plain and simple and I want to actually PAY (believe me, I'm cheap enough to squeeze a penny until Lincoln screams) for a the second and third installments in this exciting new series by author Moon. In a genre now dominated by female writers and their tough heroines, Moon has crafted something here that stands out from the pack (pun intended, you bet!)

Fine, I'm done gushing now. But in all seriousness, this is a great read and for you e-reader types, it's cheap at twice the price.

Nightwolves Coalition is my second taste of Clarrissa Lee Moon (the first being Celeste Nites), and it has definitely prompted me to clear a little space on the virtual book shelf for more.

Once again, Clarrissa presents us with a strong female lead who manages to be sexy without losing any of the respect she demands as a kick-ass heroine. Hell, this woman has not 1, not 2, but 3 mates, and she comes across as not only worthy of all three, but entirely capable of keeping her men in line.

Smartly keeping this from being just another urban fantasy/paranormal romance, Clarrissa introduces a high-tech thriller element, with Catrina getting involved with the military elite – only after, of course, they discover her vampiric nature during a botched hijacking attempt. I say vampiric, because she’s something new to the genre, a woman granted supernatural powers as a reward for her past services, and who remains unencumbered by the usual weaknesses of the vampire.

This definitely a story that puts action above romance, danger above eroticism, and it works very well. The pacing does lag a bit in places (usually when it gets deep into explanations), but not so much that it draws you out of the narrative. The depth of imagination displayed in the world-building and mythology is wonderful, and I suspect she’s only scratched the surface in this volume.

I’m definitely looking forward to more, discovering what happens next, and discovering more about the battles that condemned Catrina to the astral plane for so long. Well worth a read!

The book opens with our herione, Cat minding her own business flying home to be with her mates. You heard me, mates, plural. I won't tell you what happens next, don't want to ruin it for you, but this ain't no easy plane ride for Cat. There is action, humor, a mother's love for her kids and mates, family issues, bad guys, good guys and one kick hinny vampire/biker chick. What more could one ask for in a book? I couldn't put this book down once I started it, I laughed out loud, yelled out loud, gave a running commentary to my own mate throughout and enjoyed meeting all the characters. There were a few places in the book that the story seemed to go a little slow, but all and all a good book and I look forward to reading the next one and finding out what happens to all the characters.

Meet Cat - a super powerful demi-goddess that is about to make some military heads spin. When she is caught using her "super powers" on camera after saving a plane from an attempted hijacking, she agrees to help a select group of military save the world...literally. The end is near, and it's her job to make sure it isn't really The End.

This book is a great set-up for a series. With just enough action to keep things really interesting, paired up with most of the background information needed to really dive into the world. While there isn't a boy meets girl - fall in love - live happily ever after romance, Cat and her mates (yes, there's three of them) have a touching reunion and very interesting relationship.

I really am torn for a review on this book. It is a good story, BUT, it is 70o/o fighting evil, getting ready to fight evil, getting over the wounds after fighting evil. 20 o/o lecturing on religion, and if you are Catholic, you might want to pass this one by. The last 10 o/o is given to family and romance. To be honest it bored me so bad I was flipping pages, scanning for an interesting part.

Nightwolves Coalition by Clarrissa Lee Moon is a paranormal erotica novel that is a little of both paranormal and erotica and is pleasingly the right amount of each and refreshingly not too much of either. The novel takes no time in jumping into the action and plot as Catrina Garcia a vampire, newly modified, finds herself in the clutches of terrorists on a passenger airliner where she must find a way to save the day. Both evil and benevolent forces spice the conspiracy as twists take the reader into a suspense filled story and at times an entirely different world.

There is a very grounding sediment to the paranormal activity within the book that is quite compelling and utterly believable. The characters are three dimensional quality and the action and landscape unfold before the reader's eyes. Clarrissa Lee Moon truly uses the right amount of everything in her recipe for this book to create a novel about the age old dogma of vampires making it unique and exhilarating.

Grade A awesome book!

I'm kind of torn about this book - The storyline was great, I loved that the main character was a mum and was surrounded by loving, supportive people and that she could kick serious butt.

Unfortunately, a lot of the good was lost amongst the constant preaching, info dumping, lecturing, garbage dialogue that was at times so overwhelming that it overshadowed the storyline completely.

I also had a real problem with the overly masculine, woman hating male stereotypes and everyone "judging" the MC based on her appearance - it was way OTT and overused as what seemed like a method of attempted comedic relief.

Oh and by the way, Jehovah Witnesses DO NOT believe that Joseph raped Mary after stealing her from his best friend - they actually buy into the whole "son of god" business.

Such a shame really as I truly did love the whole idea of the characters heritage and their purpose and the military involvement.

A good read if you can swallow all the extra info.

More urban fantasy... No romance :(

3 hubbies and one girl. And a lot of urban fantasy. Dont skip the uf parts else you need to skip the whole book to wait for the romance and three husbands.

I Thought she was a virgin (at least 15 years no sex) with three adopted kids.
But then her first time ever with husband 1 was in a closet. So i guess i was wrong. Strange scenes. Hope to see the next book with more romance and way less fillers.

I am a little torn with this book. I was really loving it. I was really into this story, I mean it had magic, vampires, gods and goddesses, demi-gods, covens, werewolves, demons, jinn and special forces all rolled up into a really great attention getting story ... but then it gets preachy and anti Christianity ... I read to enjoy the fantasy world the author created ... not to have their religious beliefs thrown out there. If it was a few passing comments, I would of just blown it off but it got pretty "soap boxy" before it got back to the story which just threw the whole story off for me. So here's my rating, would of been a solid 4 1/2 stars for me but the "preachiness" killed the flow so I'm going with 3 1/2 stars.
