Buried deep under the ice of Antarctica is something that interests the U.S. government. Secretly, and in violation of international treaty, a team of scientists and military personnel have been working deep underground to reach it.

Lieutenant Commander Malory Lovecraft, an irreverent career officer, has been reassigned to take command of the station. A decorated officer, Lovecraft is considering resigning her commission and trying to make a life outside of the Navy. This tour of duty in the Antarctic darkness is to be her last.

Dr. Corky Rivers is no fan of the military. The station's only other woman is aghast at Lovecraft's language, tactics and hat choice. Instantly deciding to dislike the Commander, she slowly comes to appreciate Lovecraft's unique charms.

Unfortunately, time might not be on their side when the team finds what it's been looking for. And, even worse, something more.

Oh my goodness! I am hot one minute by the sizzling relationship.... And I mean really hot and the next I am literally checking out my room as if some mysterious hand or something will spring up. This book is f* awesome. I should not forget "Little Lovecraft" 😁🤣... This author dishes so much humour with Lovecraft's character that I am so rooting for a series for this book despite my normal disfavor for one

I loved a lot of things about this book, but what I loved the most was the way it had me laughing. Malory was just hilarious. I love how carefree and intimate she was written. The enemies to lovers relationship between Corky and Malory was just so adorable. Malory's playfulness was so freaking adorable and the way had this really crass vocabulary... I loved it.

This book is like a mash up of all my favorite pop sci-fi books and movies. It's simply a fun, enjoyable read. The author has a fantastic sense of humor (i.e. Little Lovecraft), the action scenes are well written and the love story is believable (even if the "I love you's seem to come a little quickly). I highly recommend to anyone who loves sci-fi like Aliens or The Thing and is looking for a fast-paced thriller/adventure with a little romance on the side.

Omg I just love this book! It has just the right amount of creepiness and supernatural plus two very fine protagonist. I love Malory's mess up sense of humor and the freaking aliens. It was a perfect read for me. Reslly I just loved it.

This I most love:
*The DOLL
*The Hat
*The Badassnes at the end of the story when she is killing every motherf***er there.

Just Perfect.

Was thinking of stopping earlier when one lead sexually harassed the other but tried to shrug it off as being a product of its time but finally had to stop at 20%.

This is what people had to read in the olden days, huh? Both the leads suck but the anti-gun control Republican who thinks it's noble of--no, let me just quote this, I can't even try to paraphrase how dumb this is:

Too bad, I was looking forward to characters who weren't just written to fill tropes, but these weren't for me.

I'm going to give this a 4 because it was such a fun read. Sure, it could be described as 2 women have lots of sex while something horrendous starts eating and/or controlling people with worm things resulting in lots of blood and guts while stuck under an ice continent, but it is also an action packed page turner. At times it reminded me of Aliens. Despite the swift read, the characters did not come across as bland at all. The action sequences were well written and easy to follow. And it is nicely set up for a series. I'll have to hunt out more of Kiera Dellacroix's books.

It was a hard pill to swallow playing second fiddle to some hideous, foul smelling monster that also happened to be dead. She was trying not to let it bruise her ego.

dodgy power dynamics and bizarre republican soapboxing about how gay people are selfish for wanting humans rights aside, this was more entertaining than i had any right to expect.

lovecraft is a unique blend of irreverent brashness and guileless affection that makes her weirdly charming, and the banter is so ridiculous it had me laughing out loud. if we lived in a just world for lesbians, this book would make a great script for a brain-off action move, complete with corny romance and over-the-top fight scenes. lesbians too deserve to see women flirt boldly, have gay sex and walk around covered in alien blood after winning impossible fights against hordes of zombies. gay rights and all.

3 stars. Wasn’t my favorite read as I found the characters to be kinda annoying. Malory being a republican was certainly a choice. And her rant about anti gun laws was ridiculous and that’s me being nice and that’s all I’ll say about that. After that I was cool on her and she never redeemed herself with me. Yuck. Corky was bland and I wasn’t into their romance because it lacked chemistry. Three stars for the writing and the interesting plot.

It would be a great popcorn movie, action and conversations are good, but the plot is a bit sudden. How can the commander kill all of infected people but still alive?Hard to convince. Still, it is good, and little Lovecraft doll is so cute.

I read it in less than 8 hours. It was only later that I realised that this was another in the "fanfic transformed into novel" genre.

Miss Smila meets Xena meets zombie apocalypse meets X files....the list goes on.

Unfortunately there is not a single original thought in the whole story.

It was a case of deja vu, "oh I've read something like that before", "but that is the same as...." and "here we go again." The story is supposed to be suspenseful but it really was not. You could see the next incident coming from a mile.

It is like when, in a movie, the teenage girl walks out into the forest, you hear the chainsaw, you hear the music and you just know: She is the next victim.

Kiera, you have a weird but strangely compelling sense of humour.
