Written by a rambling -and probably drunken- Englishman named John Bickerdyke in the mid 1880's, this book attempts to give a background on ale & beer.
This is a bit of a whip, even with beer, to read all the way through. By skimming, you will see plenty of interesting bits of information, quotes, poems, etc.that make with picking up if you find it at a good price.
Great stuff! At least regarding the cultural items and anecdotes. Considering it’s time period, take some of the historical items with a huge grain of salt.
