Finding God's Will: Seek Him, Know Him, Take the Next Step

Rate this book
Pastor Gregg Matte writes, “God’s will is not the needle in the haystack discovered only by ‘Navy SEALs for Jesus’; it is actually the hay in the haystack to be found by every believer.” This is great news for any Christian who has ever wondered about finding and living in the will of God. Through an extensive, intimate examination of God’s encounter with Moses in the burning bush, Finding God's Will invites readers to shift their understanding of God’s will from an event to be experienced to a process to live; God’s will is what happens when we seek Him.   Readers will find out how to be on the lookout for their own burning bushes; how to focus on pleasing God and how to expect God’s power as they seek His will. They may also be surprised to find that, as they seek a deeper relationship with God, His direction and guidance become clear. A life centered in God’s will is a promise offered to every believer and now everyone can learn how to receive that gift.

This is an amazing book! Finding God's will follows the story of Moses and relates it to the everyday Christian. I found it incredibly insightful and life changing. Thank you pastor Gregg for writing this book!

I decided to read Greg Mattes book because of a devotional I read of his on the You Version Bible app. It was the chapter on The Part of God's Will No One Wants. While i must say, that was a good chapter and parts of the book was encouraging and spoke to me, I was a tad bit disappointed with how the book was executed. Matte focused alot of Moses and more Old Testament writings, which as a basis was good, but I wish as a reader he went a bit deeper into the New Testament writings of the life of Jesus and Pauls epistles, because personally I feel that a book could shed alot of light on the part of Gods will no one wants; the suffering we can face that is in fact building us and molding us into better human beings for Gods kingdom. He tied alot of the comparison of the subject matter to Moses and I would have liked to read other compariosns. There was a chapter when he talked about the holy spirit and i disagreed with a few of his doctrinal beliefs and because of that it became difficult for me to relate to the "gut feeling" he talks about as "working with the Holy Spirit" to discern the things God wants us to do. The bible says the Holy Ghost is the spirit of truth, a teacher and a Comforter and it is what leads us into all truth. It allows us to live a righteous and Holy life and because of that, I was a bit confused for why he said follow a "gut" feeling (i link that more with emotion) and not just the still small voice of Gods Spirit living in a born again believers life. Ultimately Matte had some good points, but i thought it would be more or a soul searching, deeper read.

I found this book Monday at Goodwill along with 49 other books I purchased. Gregg is the pastor of 1st Baptist of Houston. Good writing, interesting and insightful. A basic read with some depth here and there. I would have given 4 stars but he seemed to drag some things out in the last few chapters. Nice addendum giving Scripture verses regarding the will of God.

Opened this book at the right time

I love how God uses people to reach us. I am a non-conservative Christian that would listen to Greg anytime. We may differ on some views but he has a wonderfully blessed ability to shine the light on God.

Tremendo libro

Buenisimas enseñanzas. Maestro en traspasar un pasaje bíblico en enseñanzas divinas y prácticas. Inspirador y clarificador. Primero conocer a Dios y después La Voluntad de Dios.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book! Using Moses and Exodus story as a backdrop Greg Matte wonderfully weaves illustrations and quotes to give the reader a lot to think about. He uses strong scriptural support for his ideas and life experiences to help anyone who is seeking the will of God for their lives. Excellent, I would highly recommend it.
