Beautiful and eloquent. A wonderful calming nighttime read - with an Author's Note about the real life Jumbo and the poignant wish for a comforting lullaby.

The pictures in this book!! They are fantastic. My favorite is when the hippo dreams she is a butterfly. But the gorillas dancing where the blue bananas grow is almost as good.

The rhyme scheme works well and is pleasant to read to a soon-to-be-sleepy child. It's a lovely bedtime book, but really it is all about the pictures.

I thought this was wonderful all around - great cadence to the text, well-suited illustrations.
