Life #2

Life Changes Everything

Rate this book
Ben might be young and only recently out, but he knows what he wants, and the hot blond on the dance floor definitely fits the bill. The last thing he expects is to discover that he's not only met Aaron before, but that he likes the guy as well. That's something he's never encountered before.

Aaron's no player, but when the universe throws a tall, built slab of gorgeous beefcake in his path, Aaron knows better than to question his luck. Ben unexpectedly turns out to be smart, funny, and a really good fit, which is definitely a bonus. Ben might be young, but he's mature enough to keep Aaron interested, and happy.

They both have pasts and regrets, but everyone does. They're determined to work through their issues, though, and just when they’ve started to move on together, life happens, throwing complications in their path. Can their fledgling relationship survive when everything changes?

Life Changes Everything features characters from the popular novel, Life or Something Scary like That.

I love Ben. I loved him in "Life or Something Scary Like That" and even more in "Life Changes Everything". In typical T.C. Blue fashion, "Life Changes Everything" explores Ben's life in meaningful detail and provides awesome character development woven tightly with an interesting plot and some very hot sex. (Our boy Ben sure likes his showers! LOL) At first, I was a little skeptical about Ben and Aaron's HEA. It seemed so sudden and ill timed. Yet, I found myself falling for Ben and Aaron and wanting them to be happy. How could I not? The only problem in solidifying Ben and Aaron's relationship was the ghost of Jack and Cliff (Figuratively, Jack and Cliff are NOT dead and this is not a spoiler!). In order to bring full closure, the author gives us a scene that goes where I know many other authors wouldn't. It shocked me, it made me think, and unfortunatly it also left me a little bit confused. I applaud T.C.'s daring to go there. I just wish there had been a little bit more explanation than was ultimately provided. Dare I hope for a third book in the series? Or maybe a short story that would let us see Ben and Aaron again? ;P

All in all, "Life Changes Everything" is a wonderful m/m erotic romance full of characters we know and love mixed with a dash of angsty drama. It is a must read for T.C. Blue fans and those who enjoyed "Life or Something Scary Like That". Also highly recommended for m/m erotic romance fans in general, particularly those who love a bit of angst. Like me!

This is a follow-on to Life or Something Scary Like That. Ben is still mooning over his room mates, but sure that nothing will ever happen. He goes to a Dr. appt. with Cliff and meets his hot Dr. Aaron, who he then runs into again later at the gay bar. A one night stand starts to develop into more and things are going really well until Ben's younger sister gets into trouble and it comes out that he raised her from birth. Aaron is calming him down and helping him when Cliff and Jack drop the bomb that they wanted to have Ben as part of a three-some, but now he's in love with Aaron. Ack! I liked this one much better because the first book at both guys presuming things (wrongly of course) leading to much angst. In this one Aaron and Ben were very open with each other and although Ben was only 21 he was very mature and while it might have seemed a bit unrealistic, once you learn about his childhood it all makes total sense. I have to say I cheered a little at Ben's response to his friend's revelation about wanting him with them. On the whole, this was a good read with most of the conflict coming from outside and not from silly misunderstandings. On a funny note, I was checking something on Good Reads and someone mentioned that Ben really likes showers and I likely wouldn't have noticed but they do spent a lot of time in the shower. LOL But it's sexy time which works for me and I'd rather they be clean than not.

The story, all the small plots which merge with the main plot... and just the characters, everything is just perfect. The story is complete, romantic, cautious, and just awesome...
Really great work done from T.C. Blue side, worth every penny, I'm glad I bought the book, SIMPLE LOVED IT^^.
But... then the main couple is hot and just great together!!!
GO READ IT!!

My first impression of Life Changes Everything? Incredibly hot! I hadn’t read the companion book to this one, and though you don’t need to in order to understand the story, I added it to my reading list after my first read through.

Ben is still in college and rooming with his two best friends, whom he also happens to be in love with, so he hits the bars for meaningless hook-ups as a way of coping. Enter Dr. Aaron Thompson, three years out from a bad break-up and looking to get back on the dating scene. The two spend a passionate night together and tentatively start seeing each other to find out if they’re compatible in more than just the bedroom. Lucky for us, they are! Add in well-meaning friends, jealousy, and family drama on both sides, and Blue keeps this contemporary love story forging ahead at a great pace.

One of the things I loved about Life Changes Everything is that, while Aaron is 29 and established in life, and though Ben is mature for 21, the age difference between them does show at times but it’s not a huge issue. It’s been less than a year since Ben came out, and I like that Blue addresses his struggle with how he perceives a stereotypical young gay lifestyle versus his own instincts and desires. Aaron goes to the bar to try something out of character -- a random hook-up -- but seems to have an easier time accepting that one night stands just aren’t for him. Even when the two are intending to have a one-time hook-up, their emotional connection and the romantic possibilities between them bleed through. They have such busy schedules, though, that entering a steady relationship takes some adjustment for both of them!

I like that the tension continues after Ben and Aaron agree to see each other, because the burgeoning relationship is so fragile that I anxiously read through every new plot development wondering if it would break them or bring them closer together. Blue writes them with just the right amount of uncertainty to keep you guessing. I also liked that the secondary characters are well-developed and integral to the plot lines, rather than just filler. I definitely want to read Life or Something Scary Like That to get all their back stories!

All in all, Life Changes Everything was a well-paced and intriguing story that features characters with whom you genuinely empathize. The sex is sizzling and packs an emotional punch, too. I’m looking forward to more in this universe!

Kathy’s Review:

T.C. Blue first introduced readers to Ben in Life or Something Scary Like That. Life Changes Everything is Ben’s story, and man oh man, what a wonderful story it is!

After dating girls for years, Ben finally figures out he likes boys better, but between college and his job, he does not have time for a relationship. He hits it off right away with Aaron, and after hooking up a few times, the men decide to give their romance a chance outside the bedroom. Will Aaron’s and Ben’s busy lives leave time for their fledgling relationship to grow into something more serious and long lasting?

T.C. Blue has an uncanny ability to turn everyday life into extraordinary novels, and Life Changes Everything is no exception. Aaron and Ben are exceptionally well-developed protagonists that Ms. Blue brings vividly to life. The metamorphosis of their relationship from casual hookups to serious and committed is realistic, and the growth of their characters is amazing.

Fans of Life or Something Scary Like That will be thrilled to revisit Cliff and Jack, and their presence in Life Changes Everything provides many of the novels pivotal roles. Aaron’s friend Liz is a delightful addition to an outstanding cast of characters, and her refreshing honesty keeps Aaron firmly grounded throughout the many changes occurring in his life.

Life Changes Everything by T.C. Blue is a character-driven novel that fully engages the reader with its charming cast of characters and realistic plot. From their sinfully steamy hook ups to their awkward “first” date, Ben and Aaron’s relationship mimics real life and their happily ever after ending is an absolute delight.

Nice, sweet story about college junior Ben and Doctor Aaron.
Ben is very mature for his age and comes from a very conservative family,Aaron is from a influential, well to do family.
A one night stand develops to a sweet relationship between the 2MC's, a bit of angst, that didn't really feel angst to me thrown in!

Very good m/m romance mostly about Ben from Life or Something Scary Like That as he goes on with, well, life after the events of that book. This book does a nice job tying up the loose ends, even if I was kind of cranky about one of them while it was in process.

Just an okay read for me. I really didn't care for the twist that was taken with Cliff, Jack, and Ben's friendship. It would have been better suited for the first book. Aaron and Ben also didn't seem to "fit" together in my opinion. I don't know, something was just a little off for me.
