Non vede l'ora di riaprirlo per sapere se scoprirà qualcosa di nuovo. Purtroppo non si rende conto di quanto possa essere pericoloso. Età di lettura: da 9 anni.

This is easily one of my favorite Nightmare Room books. The only thing I didn't like about it was the abrupt ending and final chapter which didn't make much sense.
Solid 4 stars for this one.

This book is about a boy who finds a diary, and not just any kind. It was a special kind. He had just moved to a new house with his mom and went up to his new room. Went he went up there, there was only a white desk and nothing else. He open the drawer and the only thing inside was a diary.
He opens up the diary and there was nothing in the diary. Then he put the diary to the side. He got everything together in his room a week past and it was two days before school started. Then, he looked in the diary and there was still nothing in it. So he decided to write in it and use it as its own. It was the first morning of school and he wrote that in the diary before he left. As he walked to school, he met up with his friend and hung out all day. His friend went home with him that day. They played basketball until his friend's mom came to pick him up.
He went upstairs to write into his diary what he had done that day. When he looked into it, it said something else than what he wrote in the morning. It was as someone erased what he wrote and wrote something else. The writing said "today Timmy had gone on the roof, throwing his hat down to and was about to jump for dare." So, he put the diary aside and went to bed.
The next day of school, it was at lunch time when all the kids were outside. A lot of them were yelling and shouting, so James went to go see what was happening. He went to go ask his friend and he pointed at the top of the school roof. James looked up and was scared, but not about what was happening, but about what was written in the diary last night. Timmy, his friend, was on top of the roof about to jump for dare, like what said in the diary.
After school, he went home and looked at his diary, every page was blank. And if you want to know what happens next, you have to read the book.

Disappointing ending. I had great expectations for this one because I thought the concept was great. A diary that predicts the future and then one day it predicts your own death. Naturally, you'll try to avoid it as much as you can but what if you can't?

Stine's books oftend end with an open ending and I hate open endings.

I just finished Dear Diary,I'm Dead from the Nightmare Room series.I was pretty excited to read this one, even though I kept putting it off.I heard from a certain Youtuber that this was his favorite or close to it.The Story follows this kid named Alex. The very beginning of this book shows Alex sharing a story about werewolves. The teacher likes it,but says he needs more details, and tells him he should keep a diary around to write in,because apparently that was the kind of format he used This girl named Tessa also asks can she use a diary. He is going down the hallway when Tessa stops him.She tells him he has to pay up.It turns out Alex made a bet about getting an a on A test, but he got a B plus instead. He does win a bet though, because he bet his two friends and band mates Chip and Shawn that Tessa would also want to use a diary.Alex loves making bets, but can never seem to get one over on Tessa. He ends up making a really big bet for 100 dollars, that his diary will be way more exciting then hers.He gets home and his parents announce they got him something,it's a new dresser. He goes to look inside and finds an old diary. He thinks about all of the things he's going to write, but gets called to dinner. He eats and comes back only to discover the diary has an entry in it.Inside it says there will be a test,so Alex studies and passes and makes bets about that. The diary tells him all kinds of stuff, like the basketball going into overtime,a substitute teacher giving a surprise test.Everything is going good for Alex. He's making money, except for one time where he purposely loses the bet to gain the other kids trust. The diary seems to be a good thing to have around until the entries start getting pretty crazy. The first one says Alex gets hit by a car,so no matter how he tries to stop it it happens, there is a kid that looses his kitten and Alex runs into the street for it.He survives it though, only for the next entry to tell him he flaps his arms like a bird and falls off a roof.He also has one where he steals a bus full of kids. The diary seems to making bad things happen.I'll admit I was a little torn on this book. The first fifty or so pages I wasn't super interested in.The second half was pretty intense.Him stealing a bus full of kids was wild. The ending however was something I didn't love.It wasn't exactly the type of ending I hated, but it was in that category. This book did have me thinking though,so props for that.I think I'm going to give Dear Diary,I'm Dead a three out of five stars.

Meh...
For some reason, even though they're not that good, I can't stop reading R.L. Stine books!
So, this addition to the Nightmare Room is about a boy named Alex who loves betting. He finds a black leather diary, which somehow tells him the events of tomorrow. However, things start to go bad when the diary prophecies bad things...
I'm giving this 3.5 because of the ending, which was more disturbing than the others.

Just an ordinary teenage drama with a dose of mystery and supernatural twists. Not particularly interesting or exciting, but short and enjoyable enough to pass the time. I would definitely recommend it to kids between 9 and 15, and for people that are older, it is highly unlikely that they would be enjoying it as much.

Dear Diary I’m Dead
Alex and his friends go camping by themselves. (Alex’s friends are Sean and Chip). They walk for an hour but get lost trying to find the creek to set up their tent. They just decide to pitch the tent where they are. That’s when Alex feels like they’re being watched. Eventually, they decide to go to sleep. Alex gets the feeling again their being watched. Then the howls start. They hope it’s dogs but they know better. It’s wolves. Then they hear the wolves approach and screen. Forest patrol shows up and asks are they ok. They tell them that the woods aren’t safe and they should be outta there in the morning. Alex doesn’t think they look like Forstt Patrol”. The howls continue. The next morning they see footprints where the “Forest Patrol” had come. Only they’re not human footprints. They’re wolf prints.

We find out this is a story, Alex made up to tell his class. They never even went camping. His teacher says it’s an excellent story. The best she’s heard all week and gives him a B plus. She says she needs to work on character development, plot, and detail (of the woods). But she compliments him on writing the story as a diary entry. She suggests he keep a real diary and hand it in at the end of the year for extra credit. Tess is happy to remind him after class that he owes her five dollars. (He bet her he’d make an A). He only has three but he gets the money from his friends. He also bet them a dollar shed want to write a diary after finding out the teacher told him to write one. He gets an idea and makes another bet with her.

During their band practice, Alex tells his friends he made a bet with Tess for 100.00. He bet that his diary will be more exciting than hers. Tessa is so boring it’ll be easy. She spends all her time on homework and projects. His friends bet five dollars against him. When mom gets home she tells Alex she has a surprise for him. He tries to make bets with her but she tells him to stop making bets. The surprise is an antique desk. Alex isn’t excited but thanks her anyway. He likes the chair better. It’s red and chrome and titles back. He examines the desk and finds a small, black, book. (a diary).

Al the pages are blank. He decides to use it to do his assignment. He’ll start by doing some descriptions of himself and his friends. After dinner when he there’s an entry in his handwriting for the following day that says It talks about him and Tessa talking about the diary war and his teacher springing a surprise test on them. Alex then takes out his book and studies his geography book. The next day it happens just like the diary said. Tessa asks about the diary test. He suggests they share diaries. She turns it down. He asks Tessa if she’s read Chapter 8 but she says she hasn’t. Mrs. Hawk does give the surprise test. So he beats Tessa five dollars that he aced the test. Tessa sees Alex’s smile and says no bet.

Alex rushes home and on the way, he saves a little boy's cat. He eagerly checks the diary to see if there’s another entry. There’s nothing there for the next day. There’s an entry tho after dinner. It says their team will win in over time and it gives the score of the game. Tessa comes by and wants to know how he knew about the test. He tells her he just had a hunch. But she accuses him of cheating and asks if Mrs. Hawk let him know about the test in advance. He says he just had a hunch. Then she gets to why she *really* came there. She wants to join the band. He says he’ll talk to the guys about it, they’ll take a vote, and let her know. Later that night he dreams he’s looking at the diary and the pages are all filled. On the last page is the word DEAD. There’s thunder and lightning heard in the background. He makes a bet that the game will go into over time and it does. He wins fifty dollars. But he loses when he gives the wrong final score (on purpose so they won’t catch on) and loses forty. Alex’s mom and dad say they heard people betted on the game. Alex says that’s dumb and he bets them ten dollars they’ll get caught. The next diary says Tessa will join the band. Alex let her in because she has a big garage and because her uncle says he’ll let them play at a restaurant downtown and he’ll pay them. It says the algebra teacher will be out but the test they're supposed to have is still on. Tessa calls and asks if she can be in the band and Alex says yes. She says her uncle has a place for them to rehearse and he might can get them a gig in his restaurant. She invites him to come by but Alex says he has to study. She tells him that he shouldn’t bother. She heard the teacher will be out of school and she’s been calling telling people not to bother studying. Alex reads the next entry. It says he’ll get hit by a car.

Determined not to make the prediction come true, Alex fakes being sick the next morning. If he stays home he can’t get hit. His mom says okay, so he’s in the clear. But then Alex calls and reminds him they are supposed to play in the lunchroom that day and then there’s the test. So he just vows to be careful. When he gets to school, Chip and Sean aren’t happy about Tessa being in the band. They don’t care about what she promised them. Alex says it’ll all work out and rushes off to his Algebra test. The diary is right and ther’s a test. Tessa is embarrassed. Alex couldn’t be more happy and finishes early. Tessa isn’t good! She’s horrible and sounds like an animal in pain. The kids beg her to stop. Some even run out the room. This just makes Chip and Sean angrier but Tessa thinks she did a good job. Alex wonders why the diary didn’t tell him Tessa was horrible. Then he worries about what the diary said about him getting hit.

On the way home, Alex and his friends agree to practice. The little boy's kitten comes running out in the street again and Alex rushes out to get it and gets hit. (His name is Billy). The woman is frantic and asks and asks if she can do anything. Alex accidently tells it’s okay. He knew it was going to get hit today. The doctor checks him out and says he’s okay. Alex feels bad he can’t get out of school and not making a bet with Chip and Shean. Tessa teases him he did it to make his diary more interesting.

The next entry talks about the Junior Olympics. It talks about how windy and muddy it is. It talks about how the blue team won mostly all the events and how the seventh graders got to watch. It talks about how Tessa is accusing him of doing crazy things to make his diary more interesting. It says he’s going to climb up on the school roof and flap his arms like a bird. At the Olympics, he makes thirty-five dollars. Alex heads home and has a thought what if the book isn’t just predicting the future? What if it’s making these events happen? Then he hears screams. Billy says his new Raiders cap has blown up on the roof of the school. (I would NOT trust this kid. He’s the DEVIL). He keeps carrying on and people are egging him on. (RUN ALEX JUST RUN TAKE OFF). But Alex caves to the pressure. Alex says the hat dangling off the roof and slipping little by little inch by inche he grabs the hat. He stand there looking at the crowd and makes a bet with them that he’ll jump. Alex’s shoe gets caught and all of a sudden he starts to fall off the roof. The art teacher catches him. Billy is grinning his behind off. It’s the second time he almost got him killed. Alex wonders if he should keep the diary or just throw it away. But he’s addicted to it so ..When he gets home the diary is gone.

He sees tho that Chip and Sean have it and are threatens g to read it. But he gets it away from them. His friends want to hang. He says they’ll have to count him out. He has to be with his parents. They give him a look like they know he’s lying. Later, Alex reads the day's entry. It’s about his team Then it talks about Sean crashing into a truck and breaking his legs. The next day, Alex wins forty dollars from the game. He tries to get Sean to walk home with him, but he says it’s about to rain and he’s brought his bike. So, Alex decides to walk home with him to make sure he doesn’t have an accident. He’s counting his money and thinking if he earns some more he’ll have enough for a new guitar. When he looks up Sean is gone. He rushes out of the game and sees Sean. He tries to get his attention but he doesn’t hear him. So, he runs after him,. He finally hears him and turns around. He doesn’t see the large moving van coming and the truck hits him and tosses him into the air. Then he falls. Tessa is there. HMMM, Why is she always where these accidents are. She tells him to go call nine one one. Alex knows he has to get rid of the diary.

When Alex gets home he tells himself he won’t read another entry. But the pull is too strong and again he starts to read it but Tessa is there behind him. Tessa questions Alex why he jumped off the roof. Alex wants to know why she’s spying but she says its because they’re friends. They tehn start talking about band practice. After she leaves, he reads the next entry. It’s about Alex driving the school bus across town. Alex just laughs at this. His mom is going to pick him up the next day. Almost immediately his mom tells him she can’t pick him up the next day. He’ll have to ride the school bus. Alex does take the bus on a wild ride and crashes into a tree.

Tessa again accuses him of doing all this because of the diary. This time Alex takes the diary and throws it in the trash can. He hears noises outside but sees nothing. That night he has a dream he’s on a puffy white cloud and then it pops and he wakes up. He has a relapse and goes outside to find the diary. He looks for the diary but it’s gone. It becomes VERY clear who has the diary the next day. Alex hears Tessa make a beat with some girls there will be a locker inspection. Then she tells Alex they’re having lunch. “A little birdie told her”. Tessa comes by later with some songs they can try. During practice, Alex says he left the guitar he wanted to bring and says he’ll go get it. All the while he’s planning to go to Tessa and gets his diary back. It’s lightning and thundering hard by this time. He sees it and steals it back. He can’t resist seeing it and sees one word on the page DEAD.

But Alex thinks since Tessa stole the diary it must mean she’s going to die. Alex knows he has to save her. A tree branch hits the garage. Alex sees Tessa holding the microphone in the window and knows she’s going to be hit by lightning. Alex yells at Tessa to drop the microphone. Then he dives for it and knocks it out her hand. He sees a blinding white flash and there’s a burn and sizzling. Alex is hit by lightning. When he awakens he’s in his bedroom. There are some men carrying a desk into his room. Then the phone rings and his mother leaves the room. He starts to examine the desk and then finds the diary. There’s an entry. It’s about the diary war and he tells her they should share their diaries. Tessa says no way. Then it talks about their teacher giving them a test on chapter right. He decides to study chapter eight.

My Thoughts
I would stay FAR AWAY from both that little kid and Tessa because everywhere they are tragedy is. I would *Not* be surprised if either of them had planted that diary in that desk. Do not ask me how but.. YEEEAH. Now the end was confusing. Did Alex die? Did time reset? WTH happened? I’m lost. On this one I can’t even make a guess. Other than that the story was good. I wish I had one of these diaries. Just not with it predicting bad stuff and then I was thinking did we need learn from Harry Potter not to trust strange, black, diaries just randomly left for people to find because they might CONTROL you? Really Ale? I KNOOOOW you’ve watched The Chamber of Secrets. Did we not learn from Ginny?

That's Alex Smith rushing past you, hurrying home to check out his journal. Why? Because Alex has never written a word in his journal, but yesterday, a mysterious entry appeared in the book - one that told Alex about the future. Alex can't wait to read the journal tonight to find out if there's anything new inside. Too bad he doesn't realize that by opening that book, he's opening the door to..."The Nightmare Room"

The first book of R.L stine i read was Dead Diary, I'm dead. It has a thrilling story though less of horror than the other books in the nightmare room volume. Nevertheless you won't get away without getting chills down your spine. The best part of this book is the concept of the diary which could predict future and one of these days Alex reads the entry which is the title of the book itself.

Although it's a story that has been done before, there are a few surprises here and there. I liked the unique ending although it doesn't quite make sense.

Review points: Story starting is 1 star
Keeping an story going is 2 star
Ending is 2 star

Review:
However, this was maybe the best idea R.L.Stine ever had; The one with much more potential to be scary. I' think R.L.Stine has no good idea for a real horror book like Stephan King, but he keeps story going so well! That's the point he is so famous.
((Dear Diary; I'm Dead)) is a great story starting with some questions, but it doesn't let that questions remain and the book answers them. The story starts with great character development and also makes the actual subject known right at the start. Also makes us know what kind of person is the Alex Smith the main character of the book. The book's start gets 1 star out of 1 star!

Keeping the story going is where that Robert Lawrence Stine makes the story very stressful!
Lots of great things happen between the Start and the End. Stine develops the story so good that you want to read it twice! You don't even feel how the time passes! Alex Smith experiences so much of Accidents that the diary becomes a nightmare to him. he can't get rid of the diary because some very strange reasons. There was no story like this which you ask you're self letter by letter what will happen next for Alex Smith? Keeping the story going gets 2 stars out of 2 stars. Believe me, if it was 3 stars for keeping story going i would let him get the 3 stars because he deserves it!

You thought the story i very nice till now, right? Yes it is, but not at the ending. (Spoilers).
The story was great till now but at the ending, where Robert Lawrence Stine isn't good any ways at, is where you get disappointed with thousands of questions in you're mind. (Spoiler). Imagine the story going very good right now but at the end you're main character (Alex Smith) dies because of lightning and after that, he wakes up and the exact sentences that Robert Stine used for him when he first saw the diary, are used to that point of story then 3 dots. It is like this:

When Alex first saw the diary:
ABCDEFGH

After he died at the ending:
I woke up. ABCDEFG...

I'm Sorry Robert Stine, but i cant give you those stars for nothing. Ending gets 0 stars out of 2 stars.

Overall:
(Dear Diary; I'm Dead)) is a great story wrote by Robert Lawrence Stine that has the most mysterious story ever in Stine's books. But he doesn't give us a good ending. But if you like to have a not specified ending, this book is for you!

Nice job Robert Lawrence Stine!

A fair entertained book

This a self-contained prose novel which is part of the “Nightmare Room” book series

ANOTHER BOOK LINE

I already read quite a bit of books written by R.L. Stine, but usually they had been from Goosebumps or Fear Street, but this is my first book from Nightmare Room, where it seems that it’s a line oriented for kids but even it looks more family friendly (with zero body count) than your regular Goosebumps novel, and something curious is that when you finish the book, you find a section telling in a general way about the supernatural phenomena that it was developed in the story, and you got a feeling that this Nightmare Room is like an attempt of doing a Twilight Zone for kids.

I BET YOU DON’T HAVE A DIARY LIKE THIS ONE!

Alex Smith is young boy with a terrible vice of betting, therefore he tries to do bets against his schoolmates about anything around them with the goal of winning some money and his current objective is buying a guitar to use with his music band formed by his close friends, Chip and Shawn.

Alex has a noisy classmate named Tessa Wayne, that while they are usually antagonist with each other, it’s clear that both have some mutual romantic interest.

Miss Gold, one of his teachers, gave them to Alex (along with the rest of the class but only Tessa shown real interest about it) of making a personal diary to get some extra points in their grades.

Fate gives the “perfect diary” to Alex coming inside of an old desk that his mom gave him, but this diary is not your regular one, since each night after dinner, written with even his own handwriting, Alex finds a page telling him details about what will happen the next day.

First, he thought that it was perfect to place bets and make money, but…

…with each diary entry, more and more dangerous things are predicted and Alex can’t avoid to happen even knowing ahead about it.

While there isn’t any body count in the story, and there is quite mild the tone of horror developed here, the book is quite entertained to read, maybe my major issue with it could be the quite abrupt and odd way to end the story at its climax (nope, I won’t spoil it) but certainly it wasn’t up to the expectations and therefore I couldn’t give it a better rating.

But, certainly I don’t complain about reading the book, since it was entertained and engaging to read.

My book The Nightmare room is written by R.L STINE and the genre is mystery.
So my book starts off with a boy named alex who is tall and wiry. He is coming home from school. Alex gets an old desk from his parents. In the old desk he finds a mysterious diary which tells him the future. The next day he goes to school, the teacher tells alex and tessa a smart and blond haired girl to write a diary. After class alex bets 100 dollars he can write a better diary. Tessa accepts the bet and they go on with there day. After school alex goes home to write in his diary but realizes his diary has already been written in. Alex was confused and asked himself how this was possible. What was really off is that it was written in his writing and it told him what would happen tomorrow at school. So the diary keeps on telling him the future. Then one conflict that happens is his friend shawn a very serious and intelligent kid runs into a big yellow van during a rainstorm with his bike. Alex is upset because he knows its his fault,he knows he caused it by reading the diary and it telling him the future. If he hadn't read that book none of this would of happened and shawn wouldve went home safely. I personally liked this book because it shows how a book and an innocent child can cause this kind of ruckus. I think people who are into finding clues and solving mysteries would be into this this type of book.

A diary that tells the future. Alex seemed to have found a diary that would tell him all about tomorrow. Cool!

This was good news for Alex as he could win bets with the other kids. But not every piece of news was good. Well, if he knew what was going to happen, he could prevent it, right?

Soon, the diary has a hold of Alex and his life becomes one dangerous situation after another. Everything the diary said would come true? Was the diary causing it? Was the diary evil? What a series of frightening events! Will they ever stop? Or worse…?

A good read!

3.7 but the ending was not what I had expected it to be. When I made an assumption about the ending it was better that the real ending and I think that's saying a lot considering I'm not a writer. This was my first R.L. Stine book and I quite enjoyed it.

The Nightmare Room is possibly Goosebumps for slightly older/more scary tolerant readers. This one was a creepy addition to The Nightmare Room and I enjoyed it. Not the most terrifying story ever, but a really good one. If the reader uses a diary often, this one may add an extra chill to the story.

The book was fine, increasing the intensity and pace, until the very end when the author ended it in the most abrupt way possible. It's as if 98 percent of the book never happened, except in a dream or in the MC's imagination. The author doesn't make that clear.

This is one of my favourite Nightmare Room books. The concept of it is terrifying — Alex knows what’s going to happen the next day but he has no way of stopping it, despite how hard he tries to. And the episode from the TV programme is one of my favourites too.
