This is one of the better Angel tie-in novels in Pocket's long-running series of books that expanded the adventures of the gang spun-off from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer television series. The main character isn't Angel (as one might expect from the title) or Wesley (as one might expect from the cover), but rather a little old lady named Mildred Finster, a big fan of cozy mystery novels who becomes involved with the Angel Investigation crew. Mariotte portrays all of the familiar characters with warmth and understanding, but Mildred (and her cat, Pookie) steal the show in this one. Angel isn't the only one with a lot of soul.

This was actually one of the better Angel tie-in novels.

It was loads of fun and I liked the story line. Jeff Mariotte has written a few of the Buffy/Angel novels and you can tell as he has the characters down really well. He also manages to tie things so they match in the timeline of events from the series which is really good.

Solid 4 stars very enjoyable, easy, quick read.
