Formal prayer (salâh) is the second pillar of Islam, and the most important of a Muslim’s acts of worship. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
«The first of one’s actions for which a slave of Allah will be held accountable on the Day of Judgement will be one’s prayers. If they are correct and accounted for, then he (or she) will have succeeded (gained paradise); and if they are lacking, then he (or she) will have failed (lost paradise). If there is something defective in his (or her) obligatory prayers, the Lord will say: See if My slave has any supererogatory prayers with which the defective part of his (or her) obligatory prayers may be completed. Then the rest of his (or her) deeds will be judged in like manner.» (at-Tirmidhi and others)
Shaykh Mashhur Hasan Salman has compiled a list of the most common errors that we make when we pray, discussing and explaining each one. Common Mistakes Regarding Prayer is a valuable aid to Muslims hoping to perfect their prayers, so that their prayers may be free of defects and acceptable to Allah. This new and revised edition of the English translation of his work presents the text in a fluent, highly readable format.

At the age of ten, he began his formal study of Islam, including lessons in the sciences of Qur’an, Hadith and fiqh (jurisprudence). The most well-known of his shaykhs and teachers were Shaykh Muhammad Nâṣir ad-Deen al-Albâni and Shaykh Mustafâ az-Zarqâ’. Shaykh Mashhoor as-Salmân was one of the founders of the Al-Albâni Center in Jordan and the magazine Al-Asâlah and has been very active in Islamic da‘wah (propagation).
Among the books owned by the San Bernardino murderer. Incredibly picayune rule book of Sharia opinion regarding Islamic prayer. But hey, at least it covered flatulence!
Ranks right up there with the substance which falls from the south end of a northbound male BOS taurus.
Everything in this book is essential. I'd say it's one of those books you should simply just have as a Muslim. It also serves as a very good reminder of the ways we should appreciate and understand our actions during Salah. It mentions EVERY detail, mistake or error that you can make during prayer with daleel and mentions how weak the opinion/Hadith is + includes views from different imams. The sincerity of the author is super contagious too, you can just tell he wants his Muslim brothers and sisters to benefit from this book for the sake of Allah ﷻ. Just wish it had a little less commentary. kind of made the book drag because of that.
So far the book is pretty average in my opinion...I was not very happy with the fact the author made it seem as though there was only one accepted way of salah rather than acknowledging the four schools of thought. He seemed to only discuss the differences in opinions between the Four Imams at certain times. Other times, he acted as if the disagreements didn't exist.
I felt as if he rarely acknowledged the differences between the prayers of men and women. The default was that I would be a male reading this book and that made it feel incredibly average and uninspiring. He would mildly mention things he thought all shias do, like praying on holy dirt, when this is not the case. I felt it was inappropriate for a book on correcting errors in prayer to not fully discuss the issue of the turban/Mohr, and this is just one issue out of several that I found that were not properly discussed or didn't really fit in with the book as well as the author probably intended. I believe that if one feels there isn't enough room to explain it then do not go into it. Perhaps make a new book or essay if the section would take up too much space. If there is enough room for this topic to be mentioned, then it should be explained in full.
Overall, I felt like it was a good attempt at helping others correct their prayers and the associated issues surrounding prayer. However, I felt there could also be some improvements too.
