Gage Mack has been contracted for a search and rescue mission but it quickly becomes far more complicated by what he finds and by the instant attraction he feels for his client’s daughter in this exciting paranormal romance. The story has lots of interesting elements and a fascinating idea and I was certainly caught up in it and looking forward to the next one but I can’t help but feel that this quick story would be better if it played out a bit more.

My rating is 2.5 stars as for me it was just too predictable and it felt like it was just going through the steps of the story without much feel for the characters.

This book was good. There is suspense and a bit of mystery. Although I feel like it was written in what feels like a second or third person instead of first person for whatever reason... but you can still follow the story. I knew Theo was a problem And why in the world does Dr. Rye keep getting away? Ugh!!!

3.5... I'm glad Adaym came back but not a big fan of cliffhangers unless the next book is already out to read... lol. The fact, that this book has a series title of Contract Killers #1, hopefully means that their story isn't over just yet ;)

A good story, more a suspense but with some deep heat scenes as well! Neeka is the only daughter of a business tycoon and is snatched on her way home from work one night after working late. We know she is taken away to a medical facility, drugged and blood taken, but we don't know why. Gage works for alpha one and is hired by Neeka's dying father to track her down after the police give up after two weeks. He finds her in a matter of days and we learn that Neeka's doctor has taken her because her blood has super healing powers and he wants to breed super warriors. The good doc has been practicing on people for years and has hope in his final 'product' Adaym. Neeka, in a bid for freedom, meets him and realizes he is more of a prisoner than her. Gage gets Neeka out but when she begs him to get Adaym, he can't and chooses to get her free.
As Neeka and Gage race to get away, they resist their mutual attraction on the first night but it proves too much for them the second night together and they come together explosively. Their slumber is interrupting and the bad guys have found them and they run. They decide to drive straight to Neeka's fathers house. They stop an hour outside and come together again, Neeka asked if things could be different, but he explains no. Gage knows his lifestyle will only put Neeka at risk, so he walks away but not before giving her a panic button to call him if she ever gets into trouble again. He is worried about her farther's PA, Thomas, but their isn't much he can do about it, Neeka needs to move on and so does her
Neeka deals with her fathers death and a few weeks afterwards, Thomas makes his move, and when she declines, he gives chase. She makes it to her panic button and slips it into her pocket before Thomas drugs her. She wakes up when she began, and realizes Thomas and the doctor are in cahoots together.Thomas intends to hand over their 'off-spring' for experiments. Thomas starts the process of making their off-spring when Gage bursts in and saves her.
A month later, the captives at facility are freed and alpha one is working to help them but Adaym wasn't found. Gage stays with Neeka when he isn't on assignment and when he is, alpha one guards her as the doctor is still on the loose.
Cliffhanger ending, well we knew that was coming, Neeka answers the door and Adaym is there!
I liked the story, and strangely enough, the romance was secondary, and that was okay, as the character interaction was what made the story - I hope it isn't too long before the next installment!

It’s been a long time since I felt this conflicted when it came to a book. On one hand, the storyline kept me interested from start to end. On the other hand, I felt the characterizations were weak, the plot weaker, and I’m still not sure why it’s titled “The Assassin” beyond attempting to fit into the line under which it was published.

Perhaps I should start with a brief overview. Neeka McCarthy has been kidnapped, and not for ransom or to make a woman’s suit out of her skin; she apparently has a very rare blood type, rare enough to kill over in order to run experiments. Her sick father calls in Gage Nyght, a trained assassin, to recover her, and thus begins a ticking clock between Neeka’s recovery and her father’s last breath.

Neeka bothered me. She was the quintessential “damsel in distress.” Granted, there were a few acts of selflessness, but her actions (or at times, lack thereof) toward the end of the book do not strike me as the sort of thing a woman would do (or not do), think, (or not think), based on her experience thus far. Likewise, Gage’s attraction to her never palpably deepens beyond “hot chick.” He has a male reaction to a pretty girl, but I never sensed it go deeper than just a purely physical response. That being said, the tension between them does sizzle, and I enjoyed reading their interactions. The sex was smoking hot.

At times I felt the novel was building momentum, but ultimately it fell flat. And as to my earlier remark on the title: Gage was an assassin, so I understand that much, but his job in “The Assassin” was primarily to recover Neeka. Perhaps this is subjective, but I hear words like “assassin” and I think, “hired to kill” rather than “hired to rescue.” Sure, he performed his task with typical bad-assary, but ultimately, his job title seemed lost in translation.

Being kidnapped, held at gunpoint, betrayed by someone she trusted and forced to give her blood to some unknown cause leaves Neeka in a really bad situation. It'll take the baddest of the bad to get her out of this, and that's where Gage Nyght comes in.

This story is a really good length for a short read. It would fit perfectly into your average anthology for mass market, but what holds it apart from other stories this length is that it reads like a full length novel. I could easily compare it to some of my favorite mass market authors. I was able to follow the story without wondering if I had missed a couple of pages. There were plenty of hints to the back story to keep me informed of important build up for current happenings and the characters read as if they were friends I had known forever.

Ms. Snow did a wonderful job with this story. I couldn't put it down and when I finished it, I immediately started wondering about any characters I thought might come next. Alas, I checked Ms. Snow's website and there is no mention of a coming title for this series, but I'm holding out hope.

If you like action and suspense added into a really hot and sexy romance then this title is the one for you.

This book was a little outside my comfort zone but Jenika Snow still manages to intrigue me. I'm not usually a fan of scifi. Neeka has been kidnapped and she has no idea why. The kidnappers keep drugging her and taking her blood. Gage is a contract killer and tracker. He's been hired to find Neeka. No one knows who has her but Gage is one of the best in his field. Gage is intrigued by Neeka but she's a job. Once these two meet the sparks really fly. Gage is a dark scary man but Neeka manages to bring out something good in him. Man Gage is so yummy even if he can't control his killer instinct. Do Neeka and Gage have a chance or will the kidnappers kill them both? Read it of you love scifi which I'm not going to disclose what makes it that way. If you don't like scifi but love a hot sexy dangerous hero then Gage is a great read. Plenty of action that will keep you on the edge of your seat and lots of passion that keeps your panties wet.

In Gage we meet Gage and Neeka. He's an ex-military contract killer and she is a kidnapping victim he is sent to retrieve back to her father. What was suppose to be an easy in and out job turns to be anything but when he sees Neeka.....and where shes been held. The person that holds her captive has no intention on letting Neeka go under any circumstance.

When Gage gets her back home he reluctantly leaves her side. He knows hes no good for her. He's a cold blooded killer that doesn't deserve her love. What happens when the evil that took her comes back? Can Gage risk the chance of letting her love go again?

This is my confession: Gage is a remastered previous release that has been made better than its originally good story.

Ms. Snow is a talented writer which no review could give full accolades to because there are no words. Her writing draws the reader in and throws them into the middle of the action. Toss in a whole lot of erotic feelings and a fire is started. The reader is unable to put the book down and yearns for the love found between the pages of her outstanding stories. I always look forward to the next gem offered from the world of Ms. Snow.

I really didn't know what I was getting going in, I'm not one to usually read this type of book. I'm so glad I read it. Gage is a trained killer that was hired to find the daughter of a wealthy man. In his mission he discovered a underground operation. When Neeka was kidnapped, her kidnapper was planning on using her as a reproduction. Can Gage bring Neeka back to her father? Will Neeka and Gage's relationship become more than a rescue mission? I can't wait for the other books in the series!!

I did enjoy this story. Gage is an amazing character that although he has to be ruthless in his job he is still deep down a good man. Neeka is a sweet yet feisty at times. I liked how the story was interesting yet still a little mysterious. I'm still not sure what Neeka really is and why she is so special. I'm hoping that since this is a start to a new series I will learn more about her and the people she has effected.

Very intriguing start to a new series. I enjoyed it very much. The chemistry between Neeka and Gage was ultra explosive, it was like steam coming off the pages! The story itself was very interesting and definitely a page turner, I'm very curious to know what will happen next..totally looking forward to it!

This was a lot more developed that most Jenika Snow books, but it did feel like two different books. The first half was more mystery/suspense, and then it turned into a bit of a fuck-fest (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just jarred with the first part). Liked it enough to follow the series.

This story was chalked full of romantic/erotic suspense. I loved Gage, and oh boy what a cliff hanger in the end. Can't wait for the next one in this series.
