Born in rural Tennessee Raven Starr has been writing since she could hold a pencil. This ex-model for M.A.A.I.D.S (Model Against AIDS) starting focusing on writing poetry, she honed her skills to include two plays, “The Wrong Choice” and “Running Scared but Free” The Wrong Choice showed twice in New London, Connecticut earning Ms. Starr an appointed seat as the first African-American teenager on the Thames Valley Council at the tender age of 15. During the summer, she volunteered at the acclaimed Eugene O'Neil Theater.

After her one year serving on the board Ms. Starr moved on to greener pastures. She stopped writing to pursue her nursing education which took her away from her first love for 5 years. After the death of her mother Raven wrote the poem, The Otherside" which was published in the UK in an anthology called When The Light Comes. Since she started the flow never ebbed earning her a nomination for Poet of the Year for three years running by The International Poet Society.

Striving for her dreams Raven turned her sight towards her second love, writing short stories. Last year she graced us with her first interracial short romantic story, Fan-tasy with Red Rose Publishing. Raven continues to delight readers with three other stories Her Smile, Going Home Again and One Night at the Office are now available from Red Rose Publishing, Mobipocket.com and Fictionwise.com. Ms Star’s Torn is a romantic rollercoaster, at times you just are ready for the ride to stop and at others you can’t wait to see what is going to happen next. Her characters Alyssa and Julian are highly likable and flawed characters; in their flaws we find their humanity. What I like most about Ms Stars writing her ability to write color blind. I know this is an interracial couple yet it didn’t read any different then if they were, white, black, Asian or purple. I was able to loose myself in the heroine and put myself in her shoes.
The story Ms Star has is full of high energy but parts of the novel dragged and others she seemed to skim over. I would have liked the book to focus more on the mending relationship then being chased by a killer crazy man, and secondary characters that though likeable and rich didn’t always add to what essentially is a romance novel. Although this story was not for me personally I will gladly read more of her work and look forward to giving her another try.

This is a 3 Diva Read. The passion is hot; Alyssa overcomes here initial anger at Julian based on his sudden and unexpected departure a few years earlier. They return to their deep love for each other. Julian knows instinctively just what is needed to light Aly's fire and how to keep it stoked.

There is only one problem: another ex who refused to commit to her. Christian's drug and alcohol habit finally overcomes reason. He kidnaps Aly. His drug induced paranioa has taken over his life and threatens to end Aly's.

The action slowly builds from confrontations at Aly's work, to her apartment and to the final climatic kidnapping. This builds into a book that becomes hard to put down, even if it seems somewhat contrived at times, which keeps this from being a straight 4 Diva Read...Reviewed by Charst46

Torn by Raven Starr had layers of conflict. From the beginning I was pulled in by the pseudo charm of the Hero Julian. After he left her, I felt her pain and inability to gain a level of trust with another man.

Christian felt off to me. After hearing of his first betrayal of trust, I hoped he’d keep his slimy self away from Alyssa.

I fell in love with Kurt and Mo, and Charlie after he apologized. When Julian came back into her life a so called changed man, I wasn’t sure he was worthy of a second chance. But he did prove himself and kept on taking brutal punishment from Alyssa.

I wasn’t prepared for the twist with the law enforcement who failed to protect the needy. Still our hero didn’t give up and our heroine decided to take matters into her own hands to protect her love and family. This story is chock full of suspense, terror, love and sacrifice. I’d recommend it to my friends.
