Desperate to regain custody of her child, Bethany Lewis sought out the only man who could help. A man with his own desire to destroy her ex-husband. Landon Gage had a score to settle, and she knew he'd be eager to join forces.
Marriage seemed the perfect method to make war on their mutual enemy. And though Landon knew their union was meant to be in name only, he was soon impatient to make love to his new "wife." But when they both got what they wanted…would they still want more?

Another book I thought was going to be good. But... Bethany's ex husband is an evil man and has taken everything away from her including her son. Bethany will do anything to get him back. She stalks Landon Gage her husbands biggest enemy. Bethany will get Landon to marry her and get her son back. After Landon agrees to this plan of revenge is where I was ready to throw in the towel. It's screaming insta love to me. So at 35% I'm adding another DNF to my pile.
This was one of the best Silhouette Desire books I've read in a while. For once there wasn't any blackmailing or need to get revenge on the other.
Instead, Landon Gage is confronted by his enemy's ex-wife, Bethany Lewis asking for his help in taking her ex-husband, Hector Halifax down to the ground.
Six years ago, Hector and his wife Chrystine were having an affair. While going to meet Hector one night, Chrystine crashed, killing herself and their son, Nathan.
With his brother's support, Landon accepts Beth's proposal and the plans to marry are under way. When Beth left Hector and finally got the courage to get out from his controlling ways, he took their son, David, away from her. In order to get him back for Beth, their marriage will give Beth that settled and clean look that was lacking before.
What neither one is expecting is the blazing heat between them. It's been too long since a woman as burned his skin. And like any honorable man should, he lets it be known he's interested, then waits for Beth to come knockn' when she's ready.
However, when Hector calls Beth demanding she meet him, Landon's P.I. tracker brings him pictures of Hector kissing Beth. Fuming and feeling like a fool for falling for another woman from Hector's bed, he confronts Beth. What his P.I didn't catch was Beth's struggles to get out of Hector's grip. Unfortunately, Landon's past loss won't allow him to believe Beth's claim. To make matters worse, Beth shouts out the secret she didn't want to tell him, that his wife lied about Landon being Nathan's father. Her affair with Hector began long before they got together and he fathered Nathan. After revealing that bomb, their relationship is dramatically damaged. Landon's trust in Beth is gone.
True to his word though, he continues working towards a custody hearing and when it finally arrives, achieves his promise and wins Beth her son back.
After letting things settle down, divorce papers are served and Beth moves out with David. After a little soul searching and advice only a mother can give, Landon realizes he pushed away the only woman he's ever truly loved.
Now, he has to win her back, but when two people love each other, it's only a matter of time.
I loved it! Right after finishing the second book, Wrong Man, Right Kiss, I wanted to read the first book about Landon, and how he fell for Beth. And I really loved it indeed. I can't imagine coming to your enemy (or your ex-husband's enemy) to ask for help. But I do know that most parents would go any length for their children. Maybe it's her efforts that got Landon's attention. Though I didn't really get it how it got him. But anyway, I really loved the emotions, the chemistry, the frustrations, their miseries, how Beth felt that she and Landon had the connection she didn't have with her ex husband. Heart wrenching.
And now, I just can't wait to read Garrett and Kate's!
Hrdina chce představit matce svou budoucí ženu, takže uspořádá takovou malou oslavu v klubu. s. 49 „Nevadilo by vám, kdybych na dnešní večer pozvala Davida?
So a friend of mine suggested I read this book, when I looked it up I told her no because it looked like a porno. My good friend promised me it wasn't so I hesitantly read it. This book was predictable and kinda reminds me of those cheesy arranged marriage books on Wattpad. I mean it's not a horrible book. The only actual inappropriate part of the book was maybe three to five pages long (on eBook) and I so skipped my happy self right around those pages lol. I feel like the characters were not relatable and had cheesy 'shall we go darling' textbook personalities. The Ex husband wasn't portrayed very well as an evil man but seemed more like an annoying spoiled teenage bully. Gage was said to be this hard and badass dude but really was a crybaby for lack of a better word. Then the female in this book was just so whinny and stupid and kinda a bitch. I don't know loves but this book just was not for me but maybe y'all will enjoy it... I don't know this is just my opinion.
Paper Marriage Proposition is a short romance by Red Garnier. Ms. Garnier has provided readers with a well-written book. This is a quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Bethany lost her child in a custody battle with her ex. She enlists the help of Landon to help her get her child back. Landon and Bethany's story is loaded with drama, spice, humor and a touch of suspense. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Red Garnier in the future. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I read a print copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I am not going to lie. I am in the mood for some mindless-nasty reading and billionaire time is the perfect gene for this. I have read about 4 books so far and everything made my brain hurt. But this was surprisingly good. It had the right amount of romance, humour and plot wasn't terrible. Was it brilliant ? No. Was this as best as you can expect from this genre ? Absolutely yes. I enjoyed reading this.
PS - I hate how underhanded this review sounds like. But it is a good read, trust me.
It's... Okay. Not very interesting. The insta attraction doesn't make sense. The trust issues get old fast. The book I was really looking forward to was the next one but there are some very confusing hints in this book about the next one. Seems the wrong brother likes her and Kate declares she likes the right brother? I though she didn't like him and realises it??? I'm not in the mood to finish this meh book only to puzzle out the next one anymore. So bye.
It was short so I knew there wouldn’t be time to build up the characters and plot. That being said I just couldn’t get into this one. Hated that the antagonist was such a jerk but I guess that was the point.
So a friend of mine suggested I read this book, when I looked it up I told her no because it looked like not my thing. My good friend promised me to give it a try anyways, so I hesitantly read it.

Review: Well usually a women’s fiction have the same underlying theme of lust at first sight fueled by shadows of a haunted past and mistrust which blooms into romance. For a change, there is a slight difference in this one; lust at first sight is of course there, but both the characters Bethany Lewis and Landon Gage have come together in a relationship with a similar intent – hatred and revenge for one man.
The story line is quite simple considering the genre of the book and the character development has been consistent throughout the book. Introduction of the Gage brothers hints at continuation of the series in future which is a clever way of asking the readers to stay in touch with the author and the series. The cover image may seem provocative but the content is PG-rated and didn’t cause my ears to fall off while I was sneaking few minutes at work. The language is pretty straight-forward and serves a dual purpose – keeps the readers’ interest intact and helps the plot and characters in moving forward.
My opinion: Excellent for light reading when your brain is befuddled with the heavy stuff.
pas baca sinopsisnya saya sebenarnya agak malas mo baca ni novel...mungkin krn saya pikir nanti bnyak dramanya gr2 perebutan anak, perceraian bla-bla...tp mungkin krn yg saya baca duluan #2 dari series ini yg bikin saya penasaran ingin tau kisahnya kakak tertua Julian..Mr Landon Gage...dan untunglah tetap saya baca krn hasilnya ni novel tak kalah bagus dgn yg no 2...smua porsi dlm cerita ini pas dan tidak berlebihan...jd ceritanya si Bethany nawarin senjata ampuh yg bisa bikin ex-husbandny ancur ke musuh bebuyutannya krn Beth desperate pengen anaknya balik ke dia lagi...Landon yg awalnya gag mau akhirnya jadi mau juga dgn alasan yg sama ingin ancurin hidunya Halifax..so mereka berdua pura2 menikah cuma sampai anak Beth kembali..tapi selama mereka tinggal bareng dua2nya saling jatuh cinta deh...sayangnya krn lagi2 si Landon yg keras kepala ada masalah yg bikin mereka harus divorce...tp syukurlah gag jadi yah namanya jg novel romens...tak sabar menunggu novelnya Garret-Kate yg chemistry mereka berduah udah ada dari novel pertama ini...yayyy
Very few romance novels grab my attention with the first sentence. This one did and it kept my attention so that I had to finished it in one sitting.
I adore the hero and envy the heroine for being so lucky to have him. In a lot of romances you see love in the form of love scenes and "I love yous", but I find it more effective (as used here) when love and commitment is shown through actions. The hero was remarkably patient and loving towards the heroine (the whole cranberries thing was too cute). The heroine was likable as well even though she had two stupid moments that had me questioning her EQ. But I get it: her son is her first love.
This romance between Landon & Bethany is borne out of revenge for her ex husband at the heart of which is a very painful truth about his dead son. It also gives you an inside view of how the media works and operates. So kudos to the author there since I learnt something new. Overall its tucked in neatly, life is smooth sailing financially and professionally after she meets Landon, which is the only unbelievable part. This could have been made into a more thrilling romance but overall its good for an afternoon quickie.
I love it! Eventhough the story is cliche with easily guess plot but the characters are so passionate. I can feel the emotions, the hatred in Landon and Bethany. And oh, how I love the chemistry between these two! It could even be felt from the first chapter. Their passion towards each other are so intimidating it makes me excited! Absolutely recommended.
3.5 rounds up to 4 stars for me. Loved the revenge premise in the beginning (for once in a category romance, it's not the heroine or hero taking revenge on each other or each other's families, but a team-up!) but some of the obstacles that were thrown up seemed to generate...out of proportion reactions on the characters' parts, especially when they'd been acting (relatively) sensibly till then.
Wonderful story about Bethany and Landon Gage. The meet to try to get her son back from her idiot of a first husband. The end up falling in love and not caring about all his money. Their pretend marriage gets real and envokes strong emotions!
Absolutely one of the best books I've read. Written well, well developed characters. I loved it so much I could not put it down and read ir well into the wee hours of the morning.
