July 18, 2022Primo libro della collana Le ragazzine che ho letto, ricordo ancora quando mio padre tornò a casa regalandomelo di sorpresa, senza una ragione di fondo se non che amavo leggere. Tutt’ora uno dei suoi regali migliori :)
I libri de Le ragazzine erano spesso visti come frivoli e da bimbette ma a me divertivano da matti e hanno continuato la mia abitudine e il mio amore per la lettura anche durante i difficili anni della pubertà. Li consiglio come regalo alle ragazze molto giovani tra gli 11 e i 14 anni - inutile star lì a regalare alta letteratura, date loro un po’ di sane risate e di drammi adolescenziali in cui si possano ritrovare!

Two points of view. (3 1/2 stars)
This was the second Back 2 Back novel by Chloe Rayban that I had read and I rated it marginally higher than the first. It's a great idea having both the boy's and the girl's view of a budding relationship - one reading from one cover, the other from the reverse cover.
This time I read them concurrently, flipping the book periodically to update from the other point of view.
Matt is 19 and has moved in to number 25, Frensham Avenue, London; a derelict property that has been unoccupied for quite a while. He starts his A Levels at West Thames College, a rather wild place that differs drastically from his all-boys grammar school in Stroud.
His great love is music, loud and heavy on the base.
He spots a gorgeous girl living in the house opposite, but she's surely way out of his league??
Natasha (Tasha), 17, can't believe that the house opposite ('the spook house') seems to have been occupied by a squatter, a pretty good-looking one, at that. But he's super-cool and attends West Thames College, a far cry from her all-girl's school with its grey uniform. Her over protective dad doesn't help either.
I guess the outcome is pretty predictable but it was a quick read and kept my interest. Published in 1999, it predates mobile phones and no doubt the music scene is dated too, but that was not necessarily a disadvantage.
It seems that Ms Rayban only wrote 2 of these Back 2 Back novels, which is a shame as it could have developed into a genre of its own.
Fun for a holiday read.

L'AMORE È CIECO
Natasha e Matt, tutti e due innamorati cotti, nessuno deciso a fare la prima mossa, perché convinto di non piacere affatto all'altro. Un vero e proprio caso di cecità amorosa, visto da entrambe le prospettive, che vivono le stesse situazioni imbarazzanti, in cui ognuno di loro crede di essersi messo in ridicolo... Quando, al contrario, è apparso agli occhi dell'altro in tutto il suo splendore.
Natasha e Matt, tutti e due innamorati cotti, nessuno deciso a fare la prima mossa, perché convinto di non piacere affatto all'altro. Storia super carina e scorrevole raccontata secondo due punti di vista (quello del ragazzo e quello della ragazza). Questa scelta è molto originale e mi ha incuriosito tantissimo vedere come gli stessi eventi vengono interpretati diversamente dai due protagonisti. Una lettura consigliata a chi non ha troppe pretese e aspettative, ma vuole solo lasciarsi travolgere da questa storia in maniera spensierata.

Romanzo curioso, dove si possono leggere due prospettive diverse. Natasha e Matt sono due adolescenti alle prese con emozioni, insicurezze e piccoli drammi quotidiani, e il libro riesce a catturare bene il loro mondo.
Mi è piaciuta la struttura narrativa che alterna i punti di vista capovolgendo il libro, dando spazio ai pensieri di entrambi i protagonisti. Natasha è dolce e sognatrice, mentre Matt cerca di trovare il suo posto tra la musica e le pressioni del college. Il loro rapporto è pieno di fraintendimenti e momenti divertenti, il che rende la lettura coinvolgente.
Se devo trovare un difetto, direi che alcuni passaggi sono un po’ prevedibili, ma nel complesso la storia è piacevole e scorrevole.
