My son was instantly captivated by the illustrations in this book. Mouse has an adorable, yet very small house. It's his birthday so all his friends and the farmer come calling with gifts trying to squeeze into his house. The last guest does it in but now, mouse has a beautiful, spacious house!
Mouse is having a birthday party in his small straw house--located in the middle of a barn. His friends come for a visit, but it appears his home might be too small.
I've read Jane Yolen's young adult work before, so I was excited to see this cute children's book in a local, free little library. My daughter is very entertained by the story, and the illustrations are charming.
Mouse lived alone in a very, very, very small house. He was excited that it was his birthday, and thrilled when his much bigger friends started arriving with gifts. Somehow they all managed to squeeze into his house, which was fine until it was time to blow out the candles on his cake. Funny ending to this gorgeously illustrated story.
This is a cute book with animal characters and a farmer. The idea that all the animals and the farmer try to squeeze into mouse's house for his birthday party is good for teaching size relations. I think this book could be read during an animal themed unit.
This book is really good for young kids learning to read. It has repetition and rhyming words making it easy to listen to and also pick up reading. It has large illustrations making it fun for kids to look at also. It is a fun story about a mouse's little house!
It's Mouse's birthday, and the whole farm is stopping by, trying to fit into Mouse's house to bring their greetings (and gifts that rhyme with "knees." Fun, playful verse from Yolen here.
All the animals on the farm, and the farmer, are squeezing into Mouse's house to celebrate his birthday. Short and rhyming, this is a great storytime choice for younger kids.
