Ms. Wilson began as an attorney but has since become a small business expert, award winning entrepreneur and the co-founder of SBTV.com the information destination site for American small business and is the epitome of a successful American woman.

It was her goal, with this work to share information which she and other women of power and note in America utilized in their careers to gain their personal definition of success. However women are not men and it was important for Ms. Wilson to point out what strengths and weaknesses young career minded women put forth in today’s society that differ from the more readily accessible male model. Above and beyond that was to impart that success is relative and multidimensional and ultimately it is up to the individual to define and attain on the terms of their choosing.

The title at first glance may seem exclusionary. While most certainly written for a woman pursuing upward mobility in career and life in general; this book in no way constitutes “male-bashing” of any sort. In fact, many of the life lessons presented would benefit any individual seeking self improvement, even a man.

Her comments particularly on knowing ones personal goals and devising a personal mission statement which incorporates non-negotiable attributes to keep one’s whole life on track are especially potent. A fulfilling career is only one part of a successful and powerful life.

Reading this 20 years after publication is the only reason I rated it lower. Definitely would have been more insightful many years ago. Unfortunately a lot of the lessons and struggles are still relevant today, but it’s but not the first time I’ve heard them anymore.
Also found some spelling/grammar mistakes and don’t think I have a special release version so that was interesting…

This book was very well-written. I enjoyed it so much, but I don't think it is for everyone. It is dominantly feministic. However, the writing style could really catch any readers attention. She writes as if she were having a normal conversation with any close friend. My favorite parts of the book were when she would share personal experiences. It made me feel as though she was not writing just a "How-to", but little pieces of a memoir. Though I make it sound as if I never got bored, the book has it's slower parts. The listing of different things had me skimming the book. I strongly encourage shy girls that are trying to pursue bigs things to read this.

I think this book really empowers women to be effective in getting things done and what they want, without being called a bitch. Well, maybe occasionally that term comes up, but what a double standard that guys can step all over people to get ahead in the world and they are just being ambitious, but if a woman does the same things, she's labeled a "ball-buster" or bitch. Good advise in this book on those types of situations.

I really liked this book. Withouht any actual story it spoke to girls and made them cherish the opportunitues that we have today to become succesfull. It told a lot about difficaultes that women faceat work and what factors do not let them be the best that tey can be. I am sure that every girl should read this book.

This is mandatory reading for all my new female consultants. It is indeed still a man's world and this book breaks it down for us and helps us cut the self sabotaging crap we learned growing up and stop undermining ourselves. Love love LOVE it!!

Excellent book. It gives great insight on communication techniques and things women do to sabotage their careers.
