Moses lived from moment to moment. He had no past and his future was always in doubt. Living in the moment was his only means of survival. Until a biker with a sense of ‘other’ walks into the bar where he works and changes his world forever.
Moses, no last name because a slave didn’t deserve one, moved through one moment to the next in full survival mode. His owner, Conrad, called him Frog and even shaved his head so he’d look like one. Moses spent his day serving at the bar, making chicken wings and burgers, and then cleaning every night when Conrad locked him in once the bar was closed. Dwelling on his past brought Moses no joy, and Conrad had already told him he had no future. All Moses could do was appreciate flashes of joy while trying to avoid the fists that often came his way.
Tucker, no last name because he was an alpha wolf and didn’t need one, was getting tired of his restless animal half dragging him across state boundaries in an endless quest to find his fated mate. Striding into a bar in a place called Dusty Dew of all things, all Tucker hoped for was a cold beer and hot wings. What he got was so much more. He just didn’t realize he was going to have to rescue the prize he’d been looking for.
Torn between avenging the injustices Moses had suffered and keeping his mate safe, Tucker did what he had to do. But the journey home wasn’t without problems and Tucker was determined Moses would be safe before he was claimed. Saving Moses is a Quirk of Fates short book. It’s where I have two men in their head that want to be together, but they don’t want to go through a long story arc to get there either. As Tucker said, “we’re fated mates. The rest should be easy.” So here you go – Tucker and Moses story, in short form. Enjoy.
As with all of my books, Saving Moses is about two men who will come to love each other. There is some on page violence, coarse language, and an intimate scene (Just the one because this is a short). There is also a taciturn alpha, a wonderful omega who lives in the moment, and a few friends to help make things happen. Oh, and a trip to Las Vegas. This story is completely standalone and is roughly 27,000 words.

This was Sweet. Capital S kind of sweet. Moses is a sweetheart who deserves better and Tucker is down to giving him better. And getting rid of everyone who hurt him first
Sweet short story by one of my go to authors. Low on angst and just enough action as most of it happens off page. I will have to read the previous books once more as I had the feeling that I should know the characters but can't remember them to save my life.
Moses turned out to be Tucker's literal lucky charm as well as his fated mate in this quirky gallop from a hopelessly miserable existence to an absolutely perfect happy ever after. I think this little Cinderfella wolftale was adorably sweet, if a little anticlimactic because of a lack of depth, nitty-gritty details, and longer story. I understand the author wanted a brain-cleanse of characters rollicking in her imagination; however, her ideas and characters always beg for a meat and potatoes story that's longer and more. I think Moses and Tucker and Tucker's mini-pack (Jocko, Dakota and Brad) had so much more background and story to offer us.
Moses had been forced to endure before Tucker arrived mysteriously, wearily, and grumpily at the small town bar he was in servitude to, Moses never even thought twice about fleeing with the very large alpha as Conrad, his abusive boss and slave-master. Although our author gave us a problem, plot glitch, and solution nicely resolved with a bow on top, all of it begged for its mystery to be explained, with more drama and backstory, and clarification as to what Conrad and his shady acquaintances might've been up to in such a small town. Besides, we never find out who the "foster parents" were, or what exactly happened to Moses' real shifter parents.
Good story, though. Moses is sweet and not without curiosity and inclination, while Tucker reveals his softer, yet very dominant alpha self that is yet another element to this storyline that begged more details and drama. Four stars.
This is a real Cinderella/ cinderfella story and the heartbreaking conditions that Tucker finds his mate in make the happy ending just that much more sweet. However hearing Moses's story includes violence and degredation plus (one instance) quite gruesome on page sexualised violence which will disturb many and may trigger some. Nevertheless the growing relationship between the two main characters is the focus of the story and is beautifully written.
Note for the author: I know Lisa tries to keep up with her reviews so I just want to point out an inconsistency with the time lines. SPOILERS: In order: 1)Moses said he was coming home from school at aged 12 when he was met by his foster family. 2)He said he had been cleaning since he was 10. 3) He said he had been in the bar for three years 4) his first shift (young teens) happened in the bar therefore he could hide it 5) he then says he was too young to remember his parents when he was taken 6) then he says he never went to school 7) finally he says he was taken at 6 by the foster family, sold at 12 and started work in the bar at 18.
I am a huge fan of Lisa Oliver and so when she puts out a new book, I'm 100% in! Saving Moses might be a short story in length but it doesn't skimp on the feelings and sweetness! Poor Moses has been living as a slave, after being stolen as a child and then sold off. His life's been hard and abusive and he doesn't expect anything to ever change - until the mysterious biker shows up at the bar he calls home and he finds himself stolen away again - but in a good way! Tucker has been on the road for awhile - constantly urged on by his wolf side that desires to find their mate! He never expected to find his mate in an abusive situation, but there's nothing he won't do to protect and cherish the sweet young man. I was instantly pulled into this story and I loved all the unique elements of the world building and characters. I definitely recommend this book - and any of the others written by this author! This story is sweet but with a little touch of drama, and I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it!
Ack. Moses' story was freaking heartbreaking but he got the HEA he deserved. Tucker tried so hard to be sweet and gentle with him and it was so cute because at the beginning he wasn't great at it. This was a sweet little story and I enjoyed the ride immensely.
At first I wondered why this was released as a Quirk of Fate short and not an Alpha/Omega short. Honestly this could have been either, but it really was kind of a random quirk of fate that Tucker ended up in that random dusty backwater and random junky bar. So glad for Moses that he did!
This is a multi fabulous Book. It's a warm feeling book that left me with a BIG SMILE and a very FULL HEART. Tucker is a bad news Shifter. Moses is a young man being held captive and abused. His life means just surviving every day. This is a very short story for LISA OLIVER because it was one that needed set free. I'm so happy you released this. I felt this book deep in my heart. The AMAZING EPILOGUE made me smile so big my face hurt. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!
I loved this story. Moses has had a hard life but it gets suddenly much better when his fated mate walks through the door to the bar where he is a slave. Tucker sweeps him literally off his fate and saves his life. These two are a perfect balance for each other and Moses will never have to worry about anything. It’s s a quick read full of growly possessive shifters and their fated mates. Definitely a happy ending!
This short didn’t seem like a short. This was a wonderful story. Not too much angst and just the right amount of action. I have been following your work all these years since the first book. I always leave wanting more. Thanks for the great writing you do! More of these please!
A short story about 2 wolf shifters and fated mates. Tucker finds himself in a bar just in time to rescue his fated mate Moses from suffering more abuse from his keeper. And sweet Moses finally gets to see what love and care feels like. Moses is a sweetheart and Tucker is a great Alpha for him.
Five stars for another spectacular book. I fell in love with Moses, one of the main characters in this awesome book and his fated mate Tucker. Recommend this book and all others written by Lisa Oliver.
A feel good pick me up after the last couple of days that I really needed. I wonder if this might be part of another series? A little taste to see if we like it? Either way something new from Lisa always makes my day!
This was a cute little insta-love story. I do wish it would have been a bit longer. Every thing felt rushed. I really wanted to read about Moses's reaction to meeting Tucker's pack but the book didn't show us that. All in all, a light quick enjoyable read.
I will give this one a 4/5. I usually enjoy books written by this author and this one is no exception. This book is a short story and it is just right in my opinion. The characters are authentic and the story is interesting.
This short story was a truly lovely romance. It had a good well paced plot, lovably characters and held me spellbound from the beginning to the ending.
