Sea No Evil

American society has finally decided to send the most horrifying criminals to live on an island in the middle of the ocean, there to spend the rest of their days waiting to die by violence, injury or illness. Murderers, child abusers, and other assorted sadists inhabit this world where no one is ever really safe, even from their closest friends.
Among the inmates is a handful of women found so vile that they deserve this fate. But one of them, Dancy Strauss, does not belong and she is ill equipped to deal with the threats that lurk around every rock and tree. When the inmate who runs the island casts his callous eyes upon the newcomer, her terror is magnified, but she sees a way to turn his interest to her advantage, maybe even into escape.

I won the Kindle version of this book off Goodreads. Thank you to the giveaway sponsor!

I've only read a couple of Kindle books and I read them on my phone, so maybe it was that, but the format of the book made it hard to read and follow. There was random spaces, conversations were all jumbled together and not spaced, and the title of the book was randomly in the middle of paragraphs. It made it really hard to read.

About the actual story - there were so many characters it made it hard to follow. It left unanswered questions. I feel like the concept of an island for convicted criminals living together and then possibly escaping could have made for a very interesting story, but I don't think it was thought out enough. It just wasn't quite there.

3.5 - This novel explores morally gray characters in a forced proximity scenario where technically even the “good guys” are really “bad guys.”  It's an interesting story that may make you analyze society's views on the criminal justice system and inmates’ rights.

I won the book through a good reads give away. It's set in a dystopian type island filled with criminals who have their own set of laws. I enjoyed reading it.
