The Old Testament of the Bible can feel like a junk drawer—a disorganized collection of important stuff we don’t want to lose yet don’t know what to do with. From the Pentateuch to patriarchs and from kings to prophets, it can feel like a puzzle we’ve tried to put together but wind up putting back in the box because it’s too complicated. The Epic of Eden Video Study Guide is ideal for groups and individuals looking for a deeply substantive and profoundly spiritual exploration of the Old Testament. Sandra Richter, a learned scholar and passionate teacher, shows us how Old Testament understanding leads to fresh depths of New Testament faith for everyday life in the real world.
Sandra L. Richter (PhD, Harvard University) is Robert H. Gundry Chair of Biblical Studies at Westmont College and a member of the Committee for Biblical Translation for the NIV. Her scholarly publications include an array of technical studies on the history, society, and economy of the Hebrew Bible, but she is best known in the church for her work The Epic of Eden: A Christian Entry into the Old Testament and her riveting DVD curriculums designed for those serious about their faith.
Best study I’ve done. Gives me a whole new understanding of the Old Testament and Judaism. Pairs well with the Bema podcast. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed reading the OT like this before.
A fantastic study for small groups! As a pastor, I’ve heard from many in our congregations that walking through this study together has been a great help to them. One, a retired lady who was raised in the Church and has been a leader in our congregation for decades, recently told me that this is the best Bible study she’s ever participated in. Wow!
