This book continues the find foundation laid in Book One. Students will learn to play in positions above first position and in keys with multiple sharps and flats in the key signature. As before, concepts are clearly illustrated in both words and pictures. The large number of pieces in the book also ensure that a student will have plenty of chances to improve their note-reading skills. Definitely an encore equal to the debut!

This 2nd edition did not add much on the 1st one. The pieces selected here are immature, shiny, and bright excepting Mahler's theme and Bach's minuet. In addition, the technical idea of teaching the scales by finger position instead of working it through the basic idea of fingerboad, keys and accidentals in scales is a lot easier I accept- but in long run, it would be of no help, I suppose.

The time spent on reading this was a torment on my soul. If it were not a gift, I would have put it aside after no more than 10 pages.

I owe learning violin in two weeks on an advanced level to this book, I would not have progressed my career as fast as I did without it. I recommend this series to any aspiring instrumentalist.
