Tous ruinés dans 10 ans ?

Serons-nous bientôt ruinés ? Sommes-nous en train de ruiner nos enfants ? Jamais, sauf en période de guerre totale, la dette publique des pays les plus puissants du monde n'a été aussi élevée. Jamais les dangers qu'elle a fait peser sur leur niveau de vie et leur système politique n'ont été aussi menaçants. En France, en particulier, si un coup d'arrêt n'est pas donné au plus vite à la montée de la dette publique, le prochain président de la République ne pourra rien faire d'autre, pendant tout son mandat, que mener une politique d'austérité ; et la prochaine décennie fera chaque jour subir, à chacun des citoyens, les conséquences des folies de celle qui s'achève. About the author

Jacques Attali is a French economist and scholar. From 1981 to 1991, he was an advisor to President François Mitterrand. He subsequently cast doubt on Mitterrand's past as a mid-level Vichy government functionary in his retrospective of Mitterrand's career, C'était François Mitterrand, published in 2005.

In April 1991 he became the first President of the London-based European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the financial institution established by western governments to assist the countries of eastern and central Europe and the former Soviet Union in their transition to democratic market economies. He worked at the bank until 1993.

In 1998 Attali founded the French non-profit organization PlaNet Finance which focuses on microfinance.

Attali is perhaps best known in America as the author of Noise: The Political Economy of Music.

Interesting flashback (in the first part) to the history of depth since Ancient Greece.

A bit misleading title because the main part of the book is about present and past and not future predictions.

Une intéressante histoire de la dette (et des défauts de paiement) des souverains, puis une discussion de la nécessité de se doter de garants supra-nationaux pour résister aux crises futures.

I read this book in greek. I found the analysis of the current debt crisis quite good. More interesting for my perspective was the historical background of the debt crisis. Now, the consulting part of the book is interesting but is plain theory, not applicable.
