"Too clever--a mind like a razor blade."

It was an apt description of Hugh Winchester, Lissa agreed as she prepared to spend the next two weeks working with him rather than his easygoing stepbrother, Paul Donaldson.

April in Paris, however, was not to be missed, even if it was a business trip and not a romantic holiday. Lissa was determined to make the most of her stay there.

What she didn't anticipate was how quickly her feelings for her irascible boss would change. Of course, he must never find out... .

Marjorie Lewty, née Lobb, was a British writer of short stories and over 45 romance novels from 1958 to 1999 to Mills & Boon.
She studied at Queen Mary High School in Liverpool, but her plans to study sciences at university were thwarted, when her father died. She was forced to take a hated job at secretary of the District Bank Ltd. from 1923 to 1933, when she married with Richard Arthur Lewty, a dental surgeon of Liverpool. They had one son and one daughter. After her marriage she began to write short stories which were published in magazines. In 1958, she sold her first romance novel to Mills & Boon, and her last novel in 1999.

Hero manipulates his employee, the heroine, into pretending to be his girlfriend in order to keep a clingy OW at a distance. Then proceeds to jump, roll, and play fetch every time the OW whistles. I think he got a kick out of having two women panting over him and I have no doubt believing, as his own parents observed, that he would have eventually succumbed to happy matrimony with the OW except that she decided to run off with his stepbrother at the last minute instead. This was truly a nauseating story :~{

I dunno....I keep waffling between 2-3 stars.

This book is just filled with one sexual harassment scene after another from the heroes stepbrother to the hero himself who happens to be her boss and Managing Director of the company. The heroine had absolutely no commonsense and spent most of the time sticking her tongue down her bosses throat.

I couldn't get into it. I was turned off by her stupidity and her ethics. Of course, this is supposed to be a "coup de foudre" (thus the title), but I just wasn't buying into it.

I'm not sure, this author is for me.

For those of you that want a wallbanger, don't pick this up. It was not.

Not bad, really. The OW and the OM are vile but not really threats, and the MCs are pretty nice people. Two and a half stars.
