OK… I have a better appreciation of the Bible as literature now that I'm older and I read this by choice. But I can't say that I loved it. Maybe I should revisit this in three decades when I am considered a senior.
Grateful for this testament of Jesus Christ. For this testament of His life and mission. I feel closer to Him when I read His words.
They recently conducted a study on people ages 8 to 80 that read the Bible. Not much of a change was noticed if they read the Bible 1-3x a week, but if they read at least 4x or more each week they noticed these incredible results:
Loneliness went down 30% Bitterness went down 43% Anger went down 32% Alcoholism went down 42% Watching pornography went down 60%
There is power in His word. There is protection in His word. There is happiness in His word.
Great books that starts off very readable that's great messages and I'm halfway through deteriorates into okay messages that are much harder and less interesting to read without lots of context from external sources. Then once you're past all the writings of Paul it gets decent to read again and Revelations is always fun.
It's been several years since I read the New Testament from beginning to end. My goals was to complete it in 2023. Today, New Year's Eve, I finished it. I loved the messages of hope and faith and future found through Jesus Christ.
Read it twice in a month. It’s ponderous at times, but the plot, if you can call it that, is great, and Jesus is an inspiration of the highest calibre.
No review needed on this one. I have read the New Testament before, several times, but this time I went slow and really noticed how absolutely beautiful the language of the New Testament is. Not only it is sacred scripture, but a true literary masterpiece as well!
