This book asserts that there are non-toxic treatments for cancer that are both safe and effective. That they are “rigorously documented” in “standard peer-reviewed scientific literature.” It backs up the latter claim by providing references to those studies. It discusses those studies. Its aim is to combat the “fallacious argument” that non-toxic methods do not conform to rules of good science, and to provide readers interested in cancer with useful information on cancer alternatives. The studies sometimes contradict one another. Some are of questionable validity, having been funded by vested interests. But many have plausibility.
In separate chapters this book discusses various vitamins, minerals, herbs, diets, therapies, etc., their positives and negatives as related to cancer. It draws some conclusions, but leaves most conclusions to readers. I cannot say whether any one of these methods is effective against cancer, but this is an interesting read for anyone interested in cancer, nutrition, or microbiology.
There are charts that suggest which therapies are effective against which types of cancer. They might be helpful to cancer patients trying to decide which course to take.
It is important to read this book in a holistic frame of mind and apply it only within an integrated holistic program. Because these individual chapters are only parts of a whole. Applied in isolation, they can cause dangerous imbalances.
There is a section on “immune boosters,” but how do they work? They all seem to be toxic. Some are vaccines. We know that if you ingest poison you will get an immune response. Is that how these “immune boosters” work? Provoking the immune system is not the same as boosting it, or is it? The stimulation of Natural Killer cells or antibodies might not be a good thing. It might be the body’s way of resisting the medicine, not the disease.
This is an easy to read reference book which explores non-toxic treatments for cancer. As noted by Moss himself, "the history of non-toxic therapies has been a sad one. There has been repression and neglect on one side, wild claims and paranoid fantasies on the other". This book manages to navigate a controversial topic with well researched accounts of studies and experiments.
Equally, as Moss also says "This book would not be necessary if conventional cancer therapies were generally successful" and until the day comes when we know what causes it and how to cure it there will always be the need for a wider understanding of surviving and thriving with cancer.
Ralph Moss is a well known scientific journalist who was fired in 1977 by Sloan-Kettering after publicly accusing the institution of suppressing information on laetrile. He has subsequently been on a mission to showcase alternate options and to show how conventional and alternative treatments can work together for the benefit of the patient.
This is not a book to read from cover to cover as it is fairly technical but is excellent as a book to dip into to obtain some initial information and to establish how to find out more.
This book came on my path. I do not have cancer (yet) but half of my family of 6 did or has and one died. Now I also know that people or books that tell you you should only trust non toxix treatment are very dangerous. Here in my country a few years ago a very beloved tv presenter died. Then we heard she had been under the influence of a so called "psychic called "Jomanda" and other alternative healers. One who "helped" her by only giving her paracetamol and let her live in his house. That was until she was on the verge of dying and only then she visited the hospital but then it was too late.
That being said I also think not all alternative treatment does not help so I am curious and for only 1.50 euro perhaps an interesting read.
Excellent book on non-toxic cancer therapy backed by clinical trials and scientific evidence. Ralph Moss is a recognized leader in the natural anti-cancer therapies.
