There aren't enough picture books which use photographs. My kids, when they were toddlers, really responded to photographs of other kids.

An alphabet book focussed on birthday parties and traditions. Mostly American focus but does at least mention other cultures.

A fun way to review the alphabet and letter sounds by going through a birthday party. They do use the vowel sounds for some of the letters just as a caution.

My house is split on this one. My kids liked it, but almost all alphabet books are a hit in my house. They liked both the birthday theme and the photographs. I was not a huge fan. The linked each letter with a word. I can understand that they couldn’t find a word that begins with X, but I think they could have found a suitable example for Q. I also found the factoids odd for a child who was learning about letters.
