This book makes three radically different types of hypnosis easy to use in daily hypnosis work, exploring methods that employ Direct Authoritarian approaches, Indirect Permissive approaches, and techniques that place responsibility for hypnosis on the client. An invaluable resource for all trainers and therapists, it includes a range of powerful scripts.
Background: Back when I was at university I witnessed hypnosis first hand. Some student on the same floor of the dorm that I lived in hynotized other students in the dorm lounge. They had the person under hypnosis make animal noises and other silly stuff. The people under hypnosis following the suggestions of the hypnosist was a profound experience.
I think that you need to be in a certain frame of mind to be hypnotized, eg. people that are resistent to hypnosis won't be hypnotized as is shared by Dave Elman, a pioneer in hypnosis.
I think hypnosis/mind control are interesting, is why I read the book.
Review: 3/5 stars, I would not call this book a guide on how to perform hypnosis. There is a lot of history and theory in the book instead of a guide. I learned about/like perspective of Dave Elman from the book and plan to look into books that he has written on hypnosis
