Hi everyone. Here's my bio but I moved to first person - it's not like I didn't write it! LOL I think romance writing is nearly as good as the real thing. Given my choice of professions, I would have preferred to be a 19th century archeologist, but I am perfectly happy living in the 21st century and comfortably writing about such romantic but inconceivably inconvenient times instead. (Just thinking about being a woman two hundred years ago makes me cringe.)
I love traveling, movies, everyone else’s novels and a good meal out with friends on Saturday night. My greatest flaw is that I believe there is such a thing as true love. Don’t tell me otherwise...please. Maybe that's really why I write to begin with.
Would love to hear about your recommendations for new historical romance writers.
Wicked Desires is one of those books where my curiously got the better of me and I decided to give the book a try. I do not care for cheating plot-lines, regardless if the hero is cheating with his wife without realizing it (yeah, not the sharpest tool in the shed). That said, this book was an interesting and captivating read. The author did an excellent job with characterization and helping the reader understand the hero and heroine's aristocratic marriage during the Victorian era. I vacillated between becoming annoyed with the heroine and loving her. Her retaliation was brilliant and exactly what the hero deserved. This book had a lot more depth than I expected for an historical erotica. Though I didn't love Wicked Desire, it still kept me intrigued and entertained. The happy ending even brought a smile to my face.
My favorite line in the book:
"I'm not sure what your wife sees in you, Other than you being an earl.
He had nearly said those exact same words. The insult stung from an elderly abbess.
Caution: This book contains explicit sexual content including light BDSM, voyeurism, ménage, and anal play.
Okay, so this book is pretty kinky, really!!, but I liked the plot: a desperate woman who wants to save her marriage. It's not the author's first book that I've read; she writes very erotic books, and I like the concise style she uses.
I chose Wicked Desires after seeing it had ménage scenes, but these are not the focus of the tale—they add a sexy element but also play a crucial role in showing Michael’s reasoning behind why he chose to visit a whore and why the other players are in the bedroom. I liked this reasoning, which showed a deeper side to his character and that although he visited a place he maybe shouldn’t have when he had a more than willing wife at home, his watching others meant, to him at least, that he wasn’t actually doing anything wrong. His devotion to his wife was apparent the whole way through the tale, and his struggles with his whorehouse visits made me empathise with him.
Michael had witnessed a kiss between his wife and another man, but he didn’t know that his wife was taken aback by it and hadn’t encouraged the man’s behaviour. Since then, Michael had problems getting an erection with his wife, but he had no problem at the whorehouse. He tried to understand this throughout and was greatly troubled by what he saw as adulterous behaviour on his part even though he had never touched the other bedroom participants.
I also chose this story because I was interested by the blurb and how the characters would cope with what they had chosen to do. I enjoy books with dilemmas that push humans and test them, and Wicked Desires was everything I had hoped for. Michael’s turmoil appealed and I enjoyed watching him struggle with his emotions—not in a perverse, mean way, but because I wanted him to overcome the obstacles in his mind that prevented him having sex with his wife. The desire was there, he just couldn’t function. Clarissa discovers where Michael has been going and she visits the whorehouse herself. Via a small, disguised hole in the wall, the madam there shows her what Michael does in the bedroom and Clarissa is understandably shocked by him being there at all but also at what appears to be a sexual thrill between him and others. It isn’t, not really, but from her point of view it clearly looks that way. She struggles with whether his actions are right and just—this is a historical book so in the time it is set, his actions were deemed debase and wrong—and I understood her horror.
Although Clarissa is repulsed, she takes on the madam’s offer of being a whore for Michael herself. Clarissa has a French background so it will be easy for her to pretend to be French. Add a face mask and the hiding of a mark on Clarissa’s body that would give her identity away, she embarks on a journey herself, one that she hopes will bring her husband back to her bed and give her some understanding of why he left it in the first place.
When Michael meets Clarissa the whore, he then finds himself with more tumultuous emotions to deal with and process. He is undeniably attracted to her—and I felt her black hair “resembling” his wife’s was a big factor, which then, in turn, proves to the reader that all he truly wants is his wife, something I found sweet. The problem is that Michael broke his own rule and touched the whore in ways he shouldn’t have.
I paused in my reading at this point and wondered how I would feel in this situation. Michael has no clue she’s his wife, so he is, to all intents and purposes, cheating. Clarissa has to deal with the knowledge that her husband finds another woman attractive and has cheated on her—albeit with herself. What a boiling pot of emotions!
BEST BITS: Michael buried his fist in Foxley’s face... (I cheered.) It cost more than fifty pounds to buy it back, but Michael believed it was worth every pence. He stowed the ring in his waistcoat pocket, feeling as if he’d done something right for the first time in over a year.
Wicked Desires is full of emotion, human failings, guilt, regret, and the urgent need to make things right again. Michael and Clarissa want the same thing—for their sex life to go back to normal—but they have to overcome many obstacles in order to get where they once were. Trust has been broken on both sides, and I thought about whether that trust could be mended again, properly, without them harping back to the past and what they both did during their turbulent time. I enjoyed Wicked Desires for the many reasons I’ve mentioned in my review, but also for the wonderful historical feel. The clothing, society, the transport, how they behaved, and how their actions were governed by a time of strict rules. An excellent book in so many ways, I recommend Wicked Desires if you enjoy delving into the mind and emotions of characters and liking them despite their flaws.
The hero in this book is cheating on his wife with his wife but he doesn't know it's his wife. Does that make sense? The sex is hot but I can't stand this cheater H.
For me, the steamy scenes got in the way of a great story. He's has performance issues, she believes he's lost interest in her and they are both suffering. Such a good plot, as they do what they can to save their relationship. Of course they just cause more angst. I liked it a lot, but skipped some of the steam.
Michael and Clarissa are fascinating. She pretending to be something that she's not, only to find out that she to has dark desires. I like the way the author gradually pulled you in Clarissa's world as she explored the pull she had in self discovering her own pleasures. I also like the she played against Michael's struggle to survive his own demons, yet succub to the pleases of his french mistress.
The bath tub experience tickeled me, who hasn't had an ackward moment, firs time playing with a sex toy. . . yummy. Got me thinking about perhaps looking at glas object differently. I hope that all who read this story finds as much pleasure as I have in reading it myself.
Here's something for all you folks reading 50 Shades... WELL WRITTEN erotica, with a story and characters and really hot scenes. If you're looking for a Regency with accurate historical details, this isn't it, but it's not exactly inaccurate either. The sex follows from and is part of the story, and the characters are likable with a real problem and real lives. I liked it quite a bit and plan on buying more from this author. You should give her money, so she writes more. (The Kindle edition of this book is currently free, btw.)
What a wonderful story. It is so unusual to read a book about a married couple that I chose this one because of it, curius to find out how a husband and a wife fixed their problems and fell in love again, not that they had fell out of love, more like they lost their trust on each other. It is always nice to read a book about a proper wife going to a bordello and pretend to be one of the girls to get her husband back. In the end, I think Clarissa was wicker than Michael. It's a different end, that is for sure.
Wonderful book set in Regency England. The main characters, Michael and Clairrisa, are married with 3 young sons. Michael is having problems with impotency after seeing his wife being kissed by another man at a ball. Michael does not see the end result of that kiss and beings worrying about his wife taking a lover which seems to have been commonplace at that time. Clarissa is worried about Michael taking a mistress because he is tired of her. They are still very much in love but do not talk to each other as they should due to the restrictions imposed by the social mores of the day. Michael goes to a whorehouse, hoping to fix hs problem without cheating, and Clarissa secretly follows him. From there, the couple eventually find each other after misunderstandings, dangerous secrets and the support of two great secondary characters, Anne and Randel Vandlandingham. This is a rich, erotic romance that gives the reader a great glimpse of Regency England.
Real characters, real people, with real problems. Not unbelievable ones but ones very easily identified with. That's really what drew me in here. The hero and heroine are more my age than these young society teenagers going through theirs first coming out season. These people have lived, raised kids, seen life. They're more real to me than most characters in historicals. I love being able to identify with characters like that.
I think my friend Mary had the right of it. There are a lot of fan fiction and erotica attempts out there right now. But you want good, solid story that's seriously hot without overpowering the ultimate point of the tale being told? This author dings it right on the nose. I'm downloading her other works, especially in this series, right now. Lovely. Simply lovely.
Actually more like ★★★1/2 (but rounded up because very well-written, highly sympathetic characters, and smexy lovin')
I got WICKED DESIRES by accident but what a happy accident it turned out to be! Then an unknown author to me, Eliza Lloyd took what seems to be an oft-used plot device and transformed it into a smokin' historical romance.
I read this shortly after it came out so a detailed review may come after a re-read. For now, I'll just say that I really enjoyed my accidental find (and went on to get the second book of this series). Definitely hot and had its angsty moments.
The only reason my rating is not higher is because, minor issues aside, I didn't sense that Clarissa got the full, sincere apology that she deserved. (Read: Michael had a lot more groveling to do but kept getting distracted by his sexual needs.) Maybe this impression will change after a re-read.
I was really drawn into the couple's story, but the constant slut-shaming comments killed it. Pretty much every other page had some reference to "whores", spoke with a sneer by both the hero AND the heroine, about both society ladies and actual unfortunate prostitutes that the husband was fucking around with.
I thought this was an excellent read - especially as it featured a slightly older couple, so 4.5 stars !! Well written and interesting. Steamy and rated R
So we’re supposed to believe that a man married 20 years doesn't recognize his wife because she’s wearing a half mask? Doesn’t recognize her naked body? Riiight 🤦🏻♀️
He’s a cheater, that it’s with his wife doesn’t make him less of a cheater. He didn’t know it was his wife and happily stuck his dick into someone he believed to be a whore. He couldn’t get his dick up for his wife and instead of discussing with his wife of 20 years, who he claims to love, he goes to a whorehouse and gets off watching others have sex and eventually participates.
What he did to her in that last encounter at the whorehouse was gross and unforgivable.
Buku ke 250 selama 2011..not bad at all...
Dia sewa Clarissa (as a whore ) selama 5 minggu berturut2 tiap hari. Sampai pada satu saat dia curiga kemana Clarissa, tiap dia habis ke brothel, Clarissa juga habis pergi,.nah, sampai satu petunjuk yg membuat dia curiga, dia jebaklah Clarisa dan berniat membuka kedok pelacur perancis kecil nya itu....kebuka sih akhir nya kedok nya...tapi Michael (dasar laki2 egois) , ga terima itu, dan dia minta bininya pergi keluar kota.
yaudah Clarissa pergi. Gak tahan ternyata si Michael ini, dia menyusul istrinya ke desa dan mereka berdamai. Oya , ada kasus kehilangan cincin kawin Clarissa di brothel, ini juga yg membuka kedok nya.
Ceritanya so so aja sih..tapi lumayan buat erotica, karena lead nya gak main2 sama laki2 atau perempuan lain. Lumayan buat bacaan iseng, karena bisa selesai sih dalam waktu satu jam....so, be it ..hahhaha...

So she talks with Clarissa and suggests a solution or possible solution to the problems. Will the solution bring more problems or help them become close again.
This was a very adult book. Keep your husbands/boyfriends handy while reading. Lots of sweaty sex. But the story was good too. As a women I found Michael infuriating but I can see a man thinking the way he does. By the end you can see what Clarissa sees in Micheal. Good story, GREAT SEX! WOW!
Michael Dunnaway has some sexual issues but in historical English society, he doesn't know what to do to fix the problem. So of course! He goes to a whore house. Okay, I'll be the first to admit that a lot has changed in the past two hundred years. Thank goodness! Otherwise there would be a huge problem with STDs, not to mention all the divorces. Clarissa, Michael Dunnaway's wife, wants to make her marriage work. She always thought that they had a love match, but if he is going to go be with other ladies, then she needs to figure something out quick. I love this sort of cheating-oops-its-really-your-spouse plot, because I can't abide real cheating or adultery. The problem is that there is real danger in the Cat house, which Clarissa almost find out when she is assaulted, or when she loses her wedding ring. I felt like this scenario could have almost happened, but that high society ladies would never be allowed outside without a chaperon (footman, maid, companion, family member) so Clarissa would have never been able to follow Micheal to his high-end prostitute house. This is erotica. There is a lot of sex, a lot so you are warned in advance, with light restraining and a scene of domination/slave playacting. 192 pages and this was free for Kindle in May 2012 3 stars for plenty of spicy hot sexy scenes,
Regency England. Michael Dunnaway 41 and his wife Clarissa 35 have a happy marriage based on love and respect. Or do they? Michael sees how men look at his wife still beautiful after giving birth to 3 children. When he spies Clarissa receiving a kiss he immediately assumes she is being unfaithful and his self-esteem is threatened. He can no longer function with her sexually. He relieves his sexual tension at the local whorehouse by watching others perform for him while he masturbates. After a year of no intimacy Clarissa finally confronts Michael who refuses to tell her what is wrong. Clarissa follows him to the whorehouse and the Madam allows her to see what he has been doing and arranges for Clarissa to perform for Michael. Funny he has no problem getting it up when he thinks she is a whore. Inevitably she gets caught. This was a freebie from Amazon. I couldn’t get over what an ass Michael was. He feels guilt but keeps doing it anyway. Why the hell didn’t he just talk to his wife? The sex scenes were different and would have been more enjoyable if I could just get past the fact that Michael was such an idiot. Don’t these people ever talk? This was a quick read and most of the reviews I’ve read didn’t have the issue with Michael that I did. Give it a shot you can’t beat the price.
I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads. Oh my Goodness, oh my Goodness!!! I've read a lot of tasty books but this one was something more! I have to give my compliments to the author because it really was the best book I've read and i'm happy to have the second and the third book here ready to be read or i would go crazy trying to find them in the stores. It's a juicy story. Of how far love can go, what it will make you do to keep your loved one close to your heart and the importance of being sincere with your partner. With a lot of kinky in between. This story shows real problems that a lot of couples go through. The author made the characters look more real therefore I've been able to love them more. I don't know if i would have been strong enough to do what Clarissa did, but I've always known that if your man is starting to doubt and to look for what he needs somewhere else, instead of getting angry you should try something new and to make him remember what made him fall in love for you. Getting angry will only prove him that he was right in finding pleasure somewhere else. I also loved how she got her sweet revenge on Michael. Eliza Lloyd is my new favorite author.
I had this on my kindle and started reading it thinking it was simply a historical romance. Well, bring on the erotica! After 18 years of marriage, three children, sometimes the spark diminishes. This book dealt with real issues and real problems concerning trust, infidelity, and lack of communication. The characters sometimes made really stupid decisions (ones in real life I would not be so inclined to forgive), but their actions and reasons for doing things were very well explained (except why Michael never hauled off and punched Martin right at the beginning, defend your woman!). I felt sorry for both Michael and Clarissa at times, and really applauded their bravery at others. A good read, less than 200 pages, fast and entertaining. Very sexy and naughty, though most of those situations were not my "thing". I'll live vicariously through fictional characters in some sexual situations, thank you very much! ;)

Eliza Lloyd know how to write sex scenes!! wow I had to fan my face (lol) Wicked Desires is a good story about a women trying to keep her husband interested in her and their marital bed. After a yr of no sex she follows her husband to a brothel (no way in hell i would wait that long) and finds out what he has been doing. the madam helps her out and gives her a chance to save her marriage.
the only thing i think i have a problem with is her waiting a yr to follow him to see what he has been up to and then after she see's what he has been doing she puts herself in a place where she could get her heart hurt. i understand that a lot of women for give there husbands for cheating (and that is what he did in my book) but if it was me i would go off the deep end. all and all it was a very good book i cant wait to read more
Wicked Desires tackles an age old issue in a contemporary historical setting. I have to say I really enjoyed Clarissa's character. It was good to see a strong leading woman who wasn't overly cliché, albeit a bit of a wet dream. She certainly showed grit in fighting for her husband in a situation that could have gone so very wrong.
I was more than pleasantly surprised in the last part of the book, as it could've easily ended a lovely HEA, but rather ended deliciously salacious (which made me like Clarissa even more).
If you like this genre with an erotic edge (oh, and like to be hot and bothered), this is probably for you.
Great book. It took me a while to get into it, I have to admit, but in the end it was worth it. The story is about a wife that fears to loose her husband to someone else and she's determinded to win his favors back. What she doesn't know is that her husband never actually wanted anyone else but her, but due to him not being able to have any sexual contact with her he's developed a liking for new sexual adventures. Will Clarissa be able to feed her husbands new lust, when she's able to win him back to her bed?
I approached this book thinking I had a grasp of the story, maybe even just a very loose idea of how the story will go. Oh boy. Well, let's just say at the middle of the book, I was ambivalent on who I should feel more sorry for. Note not who's at fault, because I've got my mind made up about that, lol. It really gave me a very poignant view of the hero's struggles and feelings. Having said that, I think the "hero's penance" and how she's turned the tables on him was justly deserved.
One of my first historic erotica that remains on my keeper and reread shelf - surprised me when I had no issue with the 'cheating H' but the motivations leading to it and the ... awakening of the h and an even better love, romance and marriage between the H/h was terrific. Think a tale like this is best enjoyed by people over a certain age and I appreciate artists like Lloyd who don't focus on the traditional landscape.
I love the book...It makes you think about your own feelings toward what you would or wouldn't do in the same situation. I liked tht the author gave a real life situation tht has and could happen between people back then and now. It makes you think, Well at least it made me think...My suggestion is EVERYONE should read this book. obviously not young children or teens.
