This is an excellent book that is overflowing with useful information on what it takes to be a good Carmelite, and indeed, a good person. Although it does become overly political at one point (for example, the book equates the "right" of a worker to unionize with the right of an unborn baby to live, plus some other oddly socialist views), it makes up for it by painstakingly examining Carmelite history, who its saints are, and what is the make-up of the Carmelite family today. Plus, check out the many, many beautiful photographs!
I can't believe no one has rated this yet. We are using it as ongoing formation in our Third Order Carmelite group. It's excellent and has lots of great pictures too! :) It really covers all aspects of Carmelite spirituality and history.
Required reading for Lay Carmelite formation process. Well done book, very thorough and informative. The artwork is all from English Carmelite churches and shrines which has its own style.
