Blue Haired Alien Girlfriend is a short story about an unusual young couple. Joshua is a manager at FishBurgers. He meets a young blue haired alien named Mariella. It's a quirky romance story with unusual characters. It is FREE at Smashwords. :)
John H. Carroll was the youngest of seven children and was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1970 where he was kept in a dresser drawer with the clean socks. Luckily, he wasn’t kept with the dirty socks or else he might have grown up to become slightly warped.
As a child, John spent most of his time wandering through the Mojave Desert in an attempt to avoid people. He would stare at the sky, imagining what it would be like to explore different worlds. One of his favorite memories is watching his dad build the fuselage of Evel Kneivel’s skycycle in their garage. One of his least favorite moments was watching that skycycle fall into the Snake River. (Not his dad’s fault and he has documentation to prove it, so nyah)
As a teenager, John spent most of his time driving wherever he could in an attempt to avoid people. He would stare at the road, imagining what it would be like to explore different worlds. He was the captain of the chess team, lettered in golf and band while in high school, and wasn’t beaten up anywhere near as much as one might imagine.
As an adult, John spends most of his time gazing at a computer screen in an attempt to avoid people. He stares at the monitor for hours, imagining what it would be like to explore different worlds. Occasionally, he looks around to see what’s happening on planet Earth.
Quite frankly, it frightens him. He’s just going to do his best to write as many books as he can before aliens disintegrate humanity for being so irritating.
Emo bunny minions surround John at most times. He is their imaginary friend and they look to him for guidance. At one point, they took over the world. No one noticed because they left everything exactly as it was. They gave the world back after a week because it was depressing.
The Ryallon Series is his most popular endeavor into the field of writing. His Stories for Demented Children have lightened the hearts of many strange children and adults. He writes in the evenings and weekends whenever possible.
Well that was ... odd. I wanted to say bittersweet, but to be honest it was just kind of sad. Boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy goes on with life and nothing remarkable happens. Yet, the story was well written, if a little ... unfinished.
The story had the potential of being a good one but then it just to be a meeeeh type of story. Being very short made it possible to just read it to the end
This is a sweet short story, which I can't find any purpose for. Seriously, I gained nothing by reading this. But it was so short that I didn't loose anything either.
It was short but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I felt like the characters has a good connection and it was pretty believable. It was sad for the guy to wake up and see his new love was no longer there anymore due to the authorities from her planet retrieving her. It’s pretty sad.
I wouldn’t mind if there was a sequel to this because I would like to see what happens to the main characters. There’s potential for a sequel if you ask me. Otherwise, it’s a solid short story that I recommend. When you get the chance, check it out.

This one is not my most favorite by the author, but it was still a good break (most of my time is spent frantically trying to complete massive essays and get All The Reading Done for my university classes, so good breaks are sanity and life savers).
I really liked how the main character in the story was able to see the alien. The physics of it is a nice touch, and something that I actually remember from my studies in martial arts (I might not be able to perform well... but I know the theories at least). That added a very nice touch of realism and helped to broaden the world as written in the story.
Some people may gripe about the writing style, but this is excellent for the days that you need a light read.
I got this for free on Smashwords. Blue Haired Alien Girlfriend by John H. Carroll tells the story of a fast food employee who meets an alien girl. She's surprised because people aren't usually meant to see her, yet, for some reason he can. They talk to each other about their lives.
I kind of liked it, but it was a bit dull and the story didn't really lead anywhere interesting. I liked the premise of the story, but I just feel like not enough was explained. For that reason, I didn't particularly like any of the characters, but didn't particularly dislike them either. There just wasn't much to go on. As a story, I think it has all the intention of being memorable, but it's just not interesting enough to be that way.
The story opens with a girl named Lisa watching a training tape at a fast-food joint called Fish Burgers. Joshua is the second manager of the place and generally avoids people. One afternoon he is walking along and sees a girl with blue hair and starts talking to her.
It turns out she is from another planet and is wearing a device that supposedly makes her invisible, but somehow he still sees her. They talk and get on very well, but she tells him that visiting the Earth is illegal and soon her people will track her down and take her back for re-education.
The ending is not happy and is another of the books I've read lately where things don't work out well for the main character.
Joshua has a pretty boring life, until one day after work; he meets a blue haired alien. The story had so much promise, but the author just didn’t pull it off. The story was just about Joshua falling in love and working a Fish Burger. This story could have been a really cute love story if the author would have made it a little more interesting, like; maybe included a plot. I really hate that I wasted my time reading something that had no kind of beginning, middle or end. One thing is for sure, I would never pay for something like this. :-(
A short story about a loner guy who met a pretty blue-haired alien, then they fell in love, hanged out for a couple of days, exchanging lots of cheesy words. Then the alien disappeared, and the guy somehow got back on with his life. It could be an interesting story, but I think the manner it was written was so lame, like the author just had to get it over with. It leaves the reader with a lot of question marks, but not knowing what to ask.
Another short story from the author if the Zachary Zombie story I jut read. This was enjoyable, not as funny or as fun as the Zombie one but I have enjoys his short stories. They are great to help me pass time at work reading them on my Kindle app.
I liked it and was glad I read it. I am even more grateful that he has all of his short stories for free on Kindle. I will be reading more by him soon.
This short story is pretty cute, I wish it was a bit longer since the ending was just like "poof" gone. Cute idea, could add more story to it. Easy to read. Good writing, just needs a bit more of description and a bit more to the story line. Keep working hard at it. This could turn out big and amazing if it is rewritten and turned into a whole series...
This story had a few cool parts in it...like the fact that Joshua had to be aware of people in order to avoid them, but overall it was just okay. I think I would have rathered it if Joshua had a chance to be with Linda at the end of the story.
This was alright. Interesting, but I don't really see a plot here. I agree with another reviewer it is more of a slice of life. Too bad it wasn't developed more. It would have liked to know more about the world Mariella comes from and what happens after the story ends.
Cute short story of a young man who meets and falls for an alien. It falls a bit short on plot development, but it was just the sort of thing to listen to on the Kindle on my drive home.
Different from the other short stories I have read, this is about a young man who doesn't connect to earthly beings, but finds a connection to a "refugee" of sorts.
There were a number of phrases that I liked other than that I would only recommend to people that need a short sweet little tale to pass a half hour or so
