Ferdinand Magellan was born in northern Portugal, and moved to Lisben, where he first saw the ocean. The ocean caused him to dream about adventure, because the farthest anyone had ever sailed was to the tip of Africa, called the Cape of Good Hope. At the age of 19, Magellan learned that Vasco da Game had sailed around the tip of Africa, to India, igniting his desire to explore other lands. He sought for, and received permission from the king of Spain to sail westward around the earth. This book is about the dangerous adventures and mutiny he and his crews encountered as they explored a passageway upon the sea. This book really kept my attention; I love history!
