Roadmap to Unharvested Fields

Rate this book
The imagery of fields and harvesting originates, of course, with the Lord Jesus Christ. In both the Gospels of Matthew and John, Jesus speaks of workers needed in the fields, fields white for harvest. This book is a roadmap that takes us to the fields that get overlooked. What provokes this study is quite simple. The people in unharvested fields don’t know the gospel. They have almost no channel to hear, to learn, to be discipled, to have a church of their own. This is not what our Lord intended. In fact, he quite pointedly included these fields in his commissions to the church. That is the subject of this book. My purpose is to encourage more church leaders and mission strategists to engage with the fields that are left out. Engaging with the harvest means more than taking up a scythe. Some will buy and distribute the tools, others will train, others will feed. All parts of the ministry of Christ’s Body are essential for planting his name and raising up disciples. “Going” need not be restricted to leaving and relocating. Going can also include defending, proposing, encouraging, making the case for others to go, and always to pray, to learn, and to give.
