Painfully naff romance that positively screams 'I'm from the 90s'. Tedious plot, bland heroine, typically over-sexed hero who spends the whole book staring her while saying 'ahh wanna have sex with yew', cliched and overblown writing, embarrassingly cringe sex scenes festooned with purple prose and tired metaphores. It also includes heaping portions of one of my most hared tropes, that being the 'no strings, we'll just get each other out of our systems' bonk-fest style relationship that is no more than empty fucking with zero romance feels. I hate it.

Oh and don't even get me started on the witchy stuff. Like I said before, pure 90s, at the peak of that witchy 90s phase when Practical Magic, The Craft etc were all the rage. Cringe, cringe, cringe.

Enjoyable in its predictability. I read it in one sitting. You don't need to be familiar with the other stories in the series, it works well as a standalone too.

This book was a surprise - Tara was an accountant and then you find out she has special powers. He's a writer about witchcraft, but doesn't believe in it. It was good.

When Tara Delaney literally fainted in Gavin's arms, he felt as if a lightning bolt had just hit him. He'd finally found the woman he'd spent a lifetime looking for. But something had kept Tara away from Whiskey River. While Gavin wanted to seduce this fiery and beautiful woman, he needed to discover what secret kept them apart . . . except he had no idea exactly how bewitching Tara really was.

This was one of the first romance novel I'd read when I was a teenager, lent to me before I went on holiday as my reading book. I loved it, and I still need to buy my own copy after all these years, but I can still remember the story line so clearly. Well worth reading if you're into these sorts of books. (:
