About the author

Jerry Bruce Jenkins is an American novelist and biographer. He is best known as the writer of the Left Behind series of books for Tim LaHaye and The Chosen novels to accompany his son Dallas's TV series. Jenkins has written more than 200 books, including mysteries, historical fiction, biblical fiction, cop thrillers, international spy thrillers, and children's adventures, as well as nonfiction. His works usually feature Christians as protagonists. In 2005, Jenkins and LaHaye ranked 9th in Amazon.com's 10th Anniversary list of Hall of Fame authors based on books sold at Amazon.com during its first 10 years. Jenkins now teaches writers to become authors here at his website. He and his wife Dianna have three sons and eight grandchildren.

Summary: There’s trouble at the Country Club: someone is trying to have them shut down. Can Bryce and Ashley find the culprit, or will their investigating cause them to be implicated?

My thoughts: I have read/skimmed my favourite parts of this book so many times, and I have never before found it to be an overly Christian book. This time however, I noticed things that I had missed those other times. While I often enjoy when the characters’ faith is the main focus, I liked the way Bryce and Ashley’s faith was present, but subtle. It was very realistic; they’re Christians, they talk about God with their friends, but they don’t force Jesus on people who don’t want to hear about Him.
As an aside, Sam worked in anti-terrorism for the government and so the terrorist Asim bin Asawe is mentioned in this book and he was the terrorist who took down their dad’s plane as revenge on Sam who was also supposed to be on the plane.
For the most part, I found it was just a clean, interesting (yet somewhat unrealistic) middle-grade fiction.

A vandal at the local country club and Bryce Timberline is the number-one suspect. That's a plot twister. The Timberline twins as suspects. They have to clear their name. New evidence surfaces about the plane crash that killed Bryce and Ashley’s father. I love this mysterious thread throughout these books. Great read. On to the next one in this series.

My favourite part was when Ashley and Bryce figured out who was sabatoging the place. My least favourite part when it was Jill who was the one who got Guy to do it, because she seemed so nice.

I picked up 8 books in this series cheap at a used bookstore. They look good. They're Christian mysteries. I have nothing against that but I don't know why I never much care for books written by this author. Maybe I didn't like this book because it's about tennis? I'll certainly try another one, though. One thing that annoyed me is that there are 90 very short chapters in the book. The book is narrated chapter and chapter about by twins Bryce and Ashley Timberline. I was never sure, or remembered, who was the voice for that chapter and had to keep going back (only 1 page but still....) to see which one was speaking. Although they're boy and girl twins they're almost one person and I really didn't get to know them as persons. Another thing, although I have not read the 6 books prior to this one, it alludes to "new evidence" that surfaces regarding the plane crash that killed their father. Unless I was sleeping during that part, I really didn't think what was told was much in the way of new evidence- just confusing.

I'm particularly fond of this series because I would read them aloud with my sister. I think I connected to the books because the siblings in it shared a bond like the one I shared with my sister. Their relationship was so real! We would spend half as much time laughing as we did reading! We would stay up late at night to finish these books. That was when Mom worked night shift, so we didn't have to worry about waking anyone with our laugher. I wish I could live those times over again!!

really cool book. someone is vandalizing the local country club and there are many suspects...bryce is one of them. some tennis dialouge so it might not make sense if u don't know tennis. really good book tho!

This book started off a little slower than the rest in the series. You could almost predict what was going to happen which made the begining boring. I still enjoyed it, though.

We enjoy reading these red rock books as a family. Main characters are Christian middle school age brother and sister solving mysteries, so we can relate with that age group.

I enjoyed this book. I don't know much about tennis, so it was interesting to read about Ashley and Bryce's experience at a summer tennis camp.
