The existing curriculum on guitar scales is inadequate for teaching guitarists the skills they really need. What is needed is a clear and simple method of learning one scale in all positions, and of learning all scales in one position. Guitarists need to be able to call up any scale to their fingertips instantaneously regardless of key, mode, string, or position and they need to be able to do so without memorizing hundreds of pages of diagrams. Fortunately, this is not only possible, but it is also incredibly simple. This booklet will teach you how.
I've been trying to memorize all these different positions for a very long time and this broke it down in a way that makes complete sense and it changes the complexion of your playing. It took very little time for this all to click inside my monkey brain. It was like somebody pulled my string and I just started marching around. It's taken far less time to work through this than anything else I've tried when it comes to learning scales. Maybe from all the other nonsense I had a better base to build from. What I do know is if a person takes the small amount of time, with a pen and paper, you're going to figure it out. I'm old school and I write ideas down with my own hand because it's a memory tool. My revision process when I'm freelance writing is the same. I never type out the first form of an idea. I write it by hand, then transcribe it into digital form and that in itself is not only a first, but a second revision. I came at this with pen and paper. The question mark that had been looming over my head turned into a light bulb. Read this, take the time. It's worth it. Thanks, Michael!
This book leads to a fantastic understanding how to traverse across the fretboard, if you will! I first came across his video series on YouTube and decided to buy the eBook immediately. It was the best few bucks I've spent towards increasing my guitar skills. I would highly recommend this book to anyone trying to move forward with their guitar - even shredders.
Perfect for those of us who can't get to grips with scales.
Absolutely the easiest way to learn the guitar fretboard. This tiny book, for me, says it all. Start soloing, before you even thought possible. Brilliant!
This book(let) is 11 pages long so you won’t need to invest much time in it. It uses uncommon references to XX as scale degrees and only refers to the major scale.
It’s a great way to learn skills. Short book show description shows you two strings of the time, depending on what skill you’re on. Further you get a sense of how modes are applied and provides an on ramp for you to use the scales and practice
There are useful concepts, especially in the beginning, of this brief book. The explanation of how to apply those concepts requires either some examples, or a greater working knowledge of scales than I have.
A simple yet profound treatise on scale construction.
Within this book, you will find a simple, yet well thought out explanation of how to construct, organize, and memorize common scales on the guitar. Unfortunately, he doesn't take into account exotic scales, their construction, or use thereof.
