Roger Cook's TV & Radio series (Checkpoint & The Cook Report) ran for over 20 years, during which time he uncovered major vice and corruption at many levels of society and mostly got beaten up for his pains. He is a brave man of strong convictions who has been responsible for sending many crooks to jail. He is also a witty, amusing writer. I was truly amazed at the accounts of his intrepid and daring investigations many of which sound too extraordinary to be real-life. But they are. from Hunting down Crooks hiding in Spain's Costa Del Crime to Confronting the Laundry Man John "Goldfinger" Palmer to exposing the evils of Ivory Poaching & Canned Hunting in Africa to Tackling Racketeers in Salford & Northern Ireland & from confronting the Triads in Manchester's Chinatown to investigating the dubious inquests into The Hillsborough football disaster of 1989. A great read.
