Nevyn lives on the Isle of Man where he is a sixth former in the local high school studying history. One day when he is out cycling near Peel, he gets a puncture. Nevyn soon finds an old thatched cottage where Bill agrees to help him mend his bike. When Nevyn goes looking for a bucket in the barn he finds an old Ford Popular hidden under a tarpaulin. It is love at first sight. Bill is only to glad to get rid of the car, so he sells it for a meagre £10. When Nevyn returns to pay the money that he owes, the thatched cottage has been refurbished and the remains of Bills tractor lie where they have been rusting away for years. A girl sitting on the tractor has a clue to what is going on. “You should always come by the ford.” She tells him.Nevyn quickly finds himself in the middle of a strange adventure. His car, Pops starts behaving strangely, A priceless jewel is stolen from the Manx museum, Cara loses a bead that has been stopping her from turning into a rampaging Buggane. The Mooinjer Veggey want their ancient silver cup back, and the police are certain that Nevyn is mixed up in the robbery.On top of all that Nevyn’s new girl friend Grayse just happens to be the daughter of his history tutor who is in the middle of an affair with another teacher. Nevyn does not know what to do, the next time he crosses a fairy bridge he will remember to say hello.
