In Morganville, Texas, “there’s always a surprise just around every dark corner”(Darque Reviews)—and it usually involves the undead. Now these secrets come to light in this collection that includes books one through eight in Rachel Caine's New York Times bestselling Morganville Vampires series…GLASS HOUSESTHE DEAD GIRLS' DANCEMIDNIGHT ALLEYFEAST OF FOOLSLORD OF MISRULECARPE CORPUSFADE OUTKISS OF DEATH
I love Shane. I love Michael. I love Eve. I love Claire. I love Myrnin. I even love Oliver! But I don't think I'll ever like Amelie (Oh bite me, so what? She is way too cold for my like)
Anyway, I love this collection. LOVE IT!
Mommy, give me a Shane and a Micheal! Give, give, give me!!!
I can’t figure out how to get this out of my yearly challenge count. I know if I delete the dates I’ll lose my highlights and shit… which was the entire reason I added it lol. For now I’m just gonna stick it back in 2023.
I don't usually feel too old for YA books but their was a lot of teenage angst in all of these books. Atypical novels in that the vamps are the bad guys 90% of the time. But the mean girls are bad 100% of the time. Clair is almost 17-we hear that repeatedly through out all the books. I liked her from the beginning because she was innocent , extremely intelligent and stubborn. But of course characters change and she does. By book 8 she is part Buffy, and a little bit mean. Each book take up with events immediately following those of the previous book. Clair goes away to college at 16 and finds Eve, Michael and Shane when she tries flees the campus dorm to avoid being killed. Those 3 friends are all dealing with problems but then so is everyone in Morganville due to the patron system of the vampires. College kids are supposed to be off limits but of course that's not what happens. Claire is very smart and becomes the "pet" of the queen of the vamps. Other than her intelligence I can never figure out why. Eve is a got, Michael is amazingly wonderful and Shane has all the charm of a burping, headstrong, handsome 18 year old. But they are loyal and sometimes funny. This series seems to end at book 8 but I see there are more books. I don't think I will bother.
To be fair, I'm probably too old for these books and I didn't have particularly high expectations for them but I thought I would give it a go. The plots were actually pretty interesting, I found myself caught up in the story, but I just couldn't get into the characters. Claire was just a really blah and boring main character. I don't really have any issues with her actions or anything, she was just really dull, as was her love interest Shane. The most interesting characters were the vampires who were sort of regulated to the sidelines, I would have been much more interested in this book had it been written from Amelie's perspective or even Eve or Michael's. I made it through book five before I just got too bored and decided to read something else.
Totally awesome. Claire goes from a geeky 16 (almost 17) year old advanced placement student to a true kick-ass heroine in 8 books in the Morganville Vampire Series. I had read a story about the Morganville Vampire but not any full books until I found this at the library. I could not stop until I finished all of the books. And not have requested #9. As good as the Weather Warden series. Action slowly builds but takes place. Very consistent world and characters (fully developed) from one book to another. And finally a bit of romance. Looking forward to seeing how Claire replaces the organic part of the steampunk like computer she rebooted. So, vampires, action, coming of age, romance, steampunk elements -all in one series. What is there not to like?
I started this series after having it enthusiastically recommended by a friend. I thought the 1st one was Ok but not that special but then I realised I wanted to know what had happened with the characters and had to get the 2nd one. And so on and so forth. I am part way through the most recent one in the series and am very much caught up in the lives of the inhabitants of Morganville. Texas. I am not sure I would have chosen to read the series without the recommendation but I have certainly been drawn in to the dark world Rachel Cain has created.
I really enjoyed reading this series, I think I finished all 8 books in less then a week. I don't know what draws me to vampires in books however this is another good version. The books are fast the action never stops, I don't think there was a single chapter in which I got bored. There are a lot of question I would like answered but like all books there usually are, sometimes I swear the characters become friends hurts to lose them. Hope made there will be a continuation or a new series with the some characters or town.
Ah, Morganville. Probably one of the best young adult vampire series out there.
Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t perfect. There are many things I disliked about this series, yet when I compare it to other books in this category it ranks rather high. Throughout the series, we have a continuous story and individual book stories to keep you engaged, without things growing repetitive.
If you’re into young adult vampire stories then I suggest you give this series a go.
I was convinced I wasn't going to like these. In fact, I knew I was going to start book 1, hate it, and return it within a few hours. Instead, I blazed through these. Rachel Caine's unique plotline (Pleasantville meets Buffy) and engaging characters drive you on. Unlike the new Revivalist series, which seems a little stilted and awkward, these just flow.
Complete fluff, but when you need a series that keeps you entertained and lets you escape reality, these are great. I loved Claire, Myrnin, and Michael, but there has got to be more adjectives to describe Eve, the goth girl and Shane, the stud muffin. Then again, does it really matter in a series all about plot and has no substance?
Not sure how I ended up reading a children's series but they are really easy to read (just the thing before I go sleep as I don't have to concentrate!). Story not that good, believable or written particularly well but the series seems to have "sucked" me in and everytime I finish one I have to onto the next (it looks like there are up to 15 of them!)
the volumes of morganville vampires 1-8 was very good. i read them since 8th grade in 2011 to now. i still read them. but if i have enough kindle credits or w.e i'd collect the whole series. these series are very good
This book series is the best book series that i have read and i can not wait till the next books come out in the uk. If you have not read these books then i recommend that you read these books.
