While this book is dated, it offers a very interesting, if not fascinating look at primates and primatologist. It begins with the definition of a primate and lumps tree shrews as early primates (which after this book was written was determined to be a different, but closely related order). It then offered comparisons of other early primates, monkeys and then apes. The later chapters focused on primate behavior and social organization and then finally how they lead to humankind. The pictures are very good as well.

Great book I had for many years but may have finally let go of in my big book cleanout a few years ago. Not a scholarly work but a survey of our closest living evolutionary cousins. Long on pictures but with a good lay text as well. Got it as a textbook for a course in "Primatology" at CU in the spring of 1973. Date read is approximate.
