When a neighbor boy is kidnapped for ransom, Stacey Hunter is stunned to discover that circumstantial evidence points to her husband. Not able to believe he could be involved in such a horrifying crime, she sets out to discover who is really behind the kidnapping.
Complicating Stacey’s efforts is the odd behavior of her supervisor, Patricia Summers, who has taken a keen interest in Stacey’s husband. Though uncertain of her husband’s faithfulness, Stacey presses on with her investigation to flush out the kidnapper and is faced with losing everything she loves, as well as her own life.
Suspicions does not contain any profanity or sexual content and is appropriate for all ages. It is approximately 72,000 words long.
Christine loves to read, but also loves to write suspenseful stories. She enjoys camping and hiking with her family and watching movies. Check out her website: christinekersey.com
Clean mystery/suspense. I appreciated what the author is trying to do by writing a book free of profanity and graphic violence or sex. Also, the story was pretty well copy edited and had just a few wrong word errors. However, the story was pretty middle school. The POV switched around randomly. The villains were obvious and had a hand-rubbing, Simon LeGree air about them. The main character behaved absurdly in her "investigations". Witnesses gave up private information to her easily at her claim that she was a journalist. I sometimes felt that the story line might have been better suited to an hour long crime show episode.
Not kindle unlimited, but must have gotten it on a freebie day. Read this one after No Way Out, and only gave that one a 3, so doubtful will read any more. The situations and characters and actions are just not believable, and I read sci-fi for fun so that's saying a lot. Just could not get in to the story or lack thereof, just didn't make sense, although did finish it, just to make sure.
Gave this one a 2 on amazon but the 1 on goodreads does not equate so gave this one a 2 just like the last one, for okay, because didn't like it but didn't hate it.
This was a definite page-turner, and perhaps not the best book to read at bedtime as you want to keep finding out what is going to happen next. I really liked the story which made me laugh and sometimes shiver, but I did feel it was a bit unrealistic.
Stacey, frustrated with the actions of the police in their investigations of local crimes, takes it upon herself to do the investigation. She commits crimes herself in the process and almost gets herself killed. Personally, in real life, I believe she would have ended up in jail.
Overall, it's a good read and characters well developed.
This is a good short read, well-written and with good characterisation. I did know who was responsible for the kidnapping quite early on in the book, but it was interesting to keep reading and see what would happen next and what Stacey would do to try and clear her husband and find out who had kidnapped the boy. Some good suspense sections, and overall a good little read.
It goes to see that although you may have suspicions about the ppl in your life that you love and care about, it's not always right to make assumptions. Stacey had doubts like anyone could or can have, but she got the facts and voiced her opinions openly about the untruths she came across. I'm just glad it wasn't the a perv who kidnapped Kyle and he was returned safely.
I love this good mystery. Stacey has to help the police find the truth about who kidnapped her neighbor's son. That makes this story quite complicated as there are many suspects, twists & turns till the very end. I suspected whom it turned out to be so that was not a surprise. Still an enjoyable read for me. I received a free copy from the author by joining her newsletter.
This book was a super fast read with a great storyline. It got right into the mystery and just kept on going. You never knew who the real villain was until the very end. Love it!
A SATISFYING, SUSPENCE FILLED MYSTERY YIKES! I love a good mystery with a bit of suspence and NO GORE. Give me a crime to solve, a body or three - skipping the nasty details, of course, and I am a completely happy camper! Suspicions kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat till the end. It's a book that you won't want to put down till the very end! This book has great characters and a mesmerizing storyline. I received this book for free when I joined the author's email list. Thank you, Christine Kersey! I enjoyed Suspicions immensely.
This free download to my Kindle was good. Although I guessed who the "bad guy" was almost immediately, the plot was strong enough to keep me reading. The "heroine" sort of bothered me with her busyness of solving the crime on her own, to clear her husband. The kids were okey but not strong enough in that their personalities were not described deeply enough, even tho one of them played a major role. Anyway, you will probably like it.
This is one of the worst books I have ever read!! It could have been written by a 9 year old. A poorly written story of a kidnapping which as a reader I should have felt some emotions for, but I didn't. I just wanted it to end! The main character did some crazy stuff that no mother in her right mind would do! What a waste! Can I give it negative stars?
I should have known by the subtitle that this book would have problems. Should have known. If you are a huge fan of Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys, and you don't mind the fact that Nancy never grew up, read this book. Oh, no one is called Nancy Drew, but she is all I thought of while reading this book. Oh, well -- it was readable.
Good book. Wood read this author again. 8 year old is kidnapped. Many possible suspects--didn't see the one who did it coming! Other 6 year old saw it but was too scared to tell since he was not supposed to be outside. Police thought his father was involved after he told because he owned the car used. Lots of twists and surpise ending.
It kept me reading I was curious as to who took the boy... and I had changed my mind a few times thinking it was this person then it was that person.... I liked it up until the end.... It was a so so book.
Poorly written, but still slightly entertaining. Very predictable, I guessed who the kidnapper was right away. Plus the main character was pretty wacky. I çouldnt believe some of the things that she did.
This book was not very good at all. There was nothing suspenseful about it. It had a very poor storyline and the plot was a bit obvious. I only stuck with it because I can't stand to not finish what I started. Thank goodness it was a free book on Amazon.com. Steer clear of this one.
I loved it! Lotts a turns and twists... Show how a womans mind can work with a few misplaced clues! And all the while not seeing the real clues! Love the way it ended... Easy to read, well written and enjoyed it!
When a child goes missing, suspicion often falls on those nearby. A suspenseful novel, with a good plot, but could have benefited from slightly more subtle characters.
I found the book an interesting enough read while I was reading it, but nothing really stuck with me once it was over. None of the characters were very memorable.
The book is good. I will read more books by this author. It is a clean suspense mystery. I received the book for free. No review was required. All views expressed are my own.
