When Holly sits on Tom's lap to tell him what she wants for Christmas, she knows she's naughty enough to get a lump of coal--but she never expected to get a hand of ginger root.
Peeled ginger in her bottom burns like crazy without causing any actual harm--so the punishment can go on as long as naughty Holly deserves.
Ginger-figging has been used since Victorian times to keep girls from clenching against a proper caning because, as Holly finds out, clenching around ginger has her begging for mercy--and more turned-on than she's ever been.
From now on Holly should be on her best behavior...but with this sort of punishment, it's more fun to be bad.

Ginger snap is a spicy treat for anyone who enjoys something unique, anyone who has read everything and wants a new idea, a new kink, a new literary thrill, and I should think Google hits for certain sites involving ginger root hit the roof when this book landed on Ellora’s Cave’s shelves.
Tom is a mild dominant; he’s nice, too nice. Holly wants him sharper, edgier, more assertive. Trouble is she wants it on her terms, when it suits her, in reality she is charge from the bottom of the relationship – that is so not how it works.
But come Christmas Eve is seems Tom has been doing a bit of veggy research and found a way to get just what he wants as the same time as giving Holly just what she needs; even though she doesn’t realize it amongst all her squirming, pleading and begging.
Ginger Snap is smoking hot, it’s seriously naughty but above all it’s a wonderful tale of trust and respect and seeing a couple nurturing the seeds of a healthy, fulfilling D/s relationship.
Verdict: Phew! Ms Evers can sure pull out all the stops in a short story! I highly recommend Ginger Snap and defy anyone to be able to pause halfway through – be warned, this is a one stop read from beginning to end.
Now this novella is seriously spicy! I enjoy the lighter side of D/s and this is a perfect example. A long-term couple finally figures out the missing link for relationship perfection. Super sexy!
O. M. G. Well, we do claim here to tell you how books made us feel, so here we go! Prior to reading Ginger Snap, I had never heard of ginger-figging. So I learned something totally new here. Who knew those naughty Victorians got up to such things? My God, the stuff they might have got up to would probably put us lot to shame! Who knew a root of ginger could be used in this way? Who the hell thought of it? I mean, what were they doing with that ginger anywhere near someone's private parts in the first place to have discovered a new use? I need to do some serious research, man, because clearly I'm a sheltered chick. I was shocked and fascinated, if I’m honest. The fact that the ginger burns did make me wince a few times, and squirm in my seat muttering "Owowowowowow!", but Holly enjoyed the experience despite this so it made me feel a bit better lol.
Holly has her threshold well and truly pushed, and I sat reading, biting my lip, wondering what was going to come next. Lipstick on the teeth is never a good look, so I have Ms. Evers to thank for me getting off the damn train, smiling at some guy that gave me "one of those looks", and him turning away in disgust. So, a word of warning, if you read Ginger Snap, don't bite your lip with lippy on, ok? In fact, don't read it in a public place unless doing so is "your thang", because you'll be squirming in your seat and other people will wonder what the hell is up with you.
The new introduction of ginger into the bedroom had Holly feeling much the same way as me. Trying something new is either exciting or a time of nervousness, and with this one I’d be nervous as hell. I will admit, though, to being incredibly curious as to how much it burns and whether the pain of it brings pleasure. Does it burn more than using toothpaste down there? (I did NOT just admit to anything there; just askin', pondering out loud, ya know?) I’m too chicken to try ginger. And I also wondered if sales of ginger have gone up since people read this book!
The ginger aspect dominated my thoughts while reading. I kept asking myself whether I would have the nerve to try it, whether, if I did, it would put me off eating gingerbread biscuits for life, and just for the time spent thinking about something I’d never known about before was worth the read.
I've had this book on my to be read list for a while, and thought that since it's Christmas themed, it would be a good time to read it. And let me tell you, I'm extremely glad I did. Ginger Snap is a short story with a difference!
Shoshanna Evers introduces something I've never read in a story before (and I've read lots); the idea of ginger figging. Holly and Tom have been together a while, and are mostly happy, but Holly can't help feeling that there's something missing. She wants to marry Tom, but after four years can't figure out why he hasn't asked her yet.
A chance encounter in a shopping centre bathroom, followed by some home truths finally make both Holly and Tom realise what the other really wants, both for Christmas and for life. Some seriously sexy and kinky fun ensues, helping Tom to transform into the true Dom Holly wants him to be, and making her totally submissive, and more turned on than she's ever been. Some truly naughty ginger-figging play ensures that Holly will be on her best behaviour for the foreseeable future - unless of course she wants to be punished...
Ginger Snap is one seriously hot tale. For a short story, there's a great deal of character insight and development and of course some smokin' hot, kinky sex. If you're looking for a well-written, naughty tale with some D/s play and a truly unique twist on kink, then I'd definitely recommend this book.
I have read a lot of erotica and heard of a lot of different "kinks" but before reading Ginger Snap, I had never heard of "ginger-figging".
When I learned what it was, I wasn't sure how much of an actual turn-on it would be for me to read about, but I have never been disappointed by something Shoshanna Evers has written so I was game to give it a shot.
The story itself, about Holly and her desire to have long-term boyfriend, Tom become more dominant over her (and also propose after 4 years of living together) was well more than satisfying for me as a reader. Tom has wants of his own, like getting Holly to finally join him at his parents' for Christmas dinner.
This was a very short read and had very good pacing with just the right amount of sex. The ginger-figging added an extra amount of kink and the Christmas theme fit with this being a few days after Christmas.
I really enjoy reading erotica when the storyline contains a committed couple. I just find love, itself, sexy and a huge turn on.
As for the ginger-figging, it was interesting, to say the least. I know I will never look at ginger the same again.
Overall, a good, sexy read as one would expect nothing less from the talented mind of Shoshanna Evers!
I can never put down Shoshanna Evers' books until I finish reading them, and Ginger Snap is definitely one of those reads. It's holiday season and a steady couple is, well, just that--steady.
Not that Holly is complaining, but she would really like a little bit more adventure in the bedroom and wants a little bit more domination from her too nice Tom. Topping from the bottom means asking for trouble, and Tom delivers quite nicely with some veggie play that has Holly squirming, pleading and begging for release.
GINGER SNAP is a fun hot read about a couple spicing it up, finding more fulfillment, and committing more fully to a D/s relationship. Highly recommended.
Who would have thought?! Ginger? Really?! Now I have some research to do!!! This quick read was hot and still funny and entertaining. Shoshanna never fails me. This is the 4th book I read of hers and didnt disappoint. I really liked these characters and though it was a short read, it felt complete.
Here I was, bathing in a tub of ignorance thinking I was sexually educated and knew all about festishes....wrong! Shoshanna Evers has introduced me to Ginger-figging. Wow, what a hot little book. I liked how it jumped into the action quickly, that's how I like my erotica.
